Boy, that was a long day. Jays ought to get into Tampa by morning. It's going to be a rough way to start an important series. Both the Angels and Mariners won, so the Jays actually fell a half game further behind second wildcard. They need two out of three or a sweep against TB to keep pace with those two teams.

Damn, Gibby is uncharacteristically making a lot of moves I like this year. Riding the hot hand by putting Gurriel up top while giving his vets Granderson and Pearce - who both played in game 1 - some rest.

I wonder if someone in the front office had a talk with him the off-season. Or maybe he's coaching with more urgency this year since his contract is up. Regardless, I like what I'm seeing for the most part.

There really isn't a starter in the minors I'd risk exposing to major league bats just yet. Ryan Borucki if he can string together good starts, maybe Sean Reid-Foley if he earns a promotion to Buffalo and puts in a month there, but otherwise, it's iffy. Maybe a long shot - Justin Dillon, our tenth round pick last year, because he was just promoted to Buffalo and was starting some at New Hampshire this season, although I don't know enough about the quality of those starts.
