Be interested to read that. We do have a low BABIP, but we also had the worst BABIP in baseball last year, which suggested to me that a large part of it wasn't bad luck, but rather related to a couple trends (we're old and slow, and hit a lot of pop-ups).
Found it. It was by Jonah Keri. I thought it was a Fangraphs post but it was on Sportsnet and therefore has a lot less data included, and I don't know if Jonah did the work or just looked at a ranking of team BABIPs.
But, from StatCast we can see that the Jays' hitters have had the worst batted ball luck in the AL by quite a big margin, and their pitchers have had the third worst batted ball luck in the AL behind Boston and Baltimore. The latter is heavily influenced by their defense, but the former is not really explained by anything other than luck.
