Also, I was remiss in failing to mention that good-name-haver Mc Gregory Contreras homered twice last night in Vancouver.

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/ben-badler-top-prospects-chat-61918/

DH (Pittsburgh):
Has Bichette's defense improved enough that you'd say he's likely to stay at short for the next 5+ years? How likely? 60%?

Ben Badler: He's a shortstop now. Some of it depends on the circumstances of who he's ultimately teammates with, but I feel very comfortable with him defensively at shortstop.

Matthew (Toronto):
Hey Ben, How concerned would you be about Vlad Jr., given the recent knee injury? Does the injury affect how you evaluate him, or would you rather wait for more information to come out?

Ben Badler: Not much concern. The Blue Jays are being super conservative, and it sounds like he’ll be back shortly.

v (canada):
what is tj zeuch ceiling?

Ben Badler: Back-end starter. Steep angle and heavy sink with a lot of groundballs, but the secondary stuff lags and doesn't allow him to miss many bats.

Tom (Chicago):
How much would you say Miguel Hiraldo has raised his stock?

Ben Badler: It's up some, although he was already one of the best hitters in the 2017 international class, so seeing him knock around DSL pitching isn't too much of a surprise. But it's good to have more evidence to support the scouting reports on his hitting ability.

7 hits, but no walks both runs unearned. Solid, ERA to 2.41.

Pardinho retired Nolan Gorman twice, including once by strikeout.

Teo: Thoughts on Adam Kloffenstein? What’s his ceiling A mid-rotation guy? He seems pretty filled out for a HS player st 6’5 220, so I’m wondering how much more projection or velocity there still is left.

Kiley McDaniel: There’s some and he’s really loose and athletic, one scout told me he thinks he’ll throw 100 in a couple years. Yeah mid rotation upside.

JaysFanMatt : Can Jordan Groshans stick at SS like other recent big SS (Corey Seager) or is the range just too light? Could he be a plus defender at 3B?

Kiley McDaniel: More avg to a little above at 3B

Yeah, unless there's a non-baseball reason, #freehiraldo. He's obliterating DSL pitching at the moment.

Do you think it’s possible it’s just because Jimenez and Groshans are on the GCL team?

I thought I read somewhere that there is no room for him on the GCL Blue Jays - blocked by slightly older guys. If Gorshans keep raking like he did today, maybe he gets to Bluefield before long.

For some reason on MLB Pipeline they randomly moved Brendan Rodgers ahead of Bichette. They also moved Soto up to #3.

Callis said they would update the top 30 for every team with draft update before trade deadline

Yeah, they make a few tweaks here and there in between their new rankings. I’m curious why they randomly decided to move Rodgers ahead of Bichette. Bo is doing better than Rodgers did his first time around in AA, and he’s younger than Rodgers was.

Not sure. Baseball America has Bichette at #6 and Rogers at #17.

Bichette: Hit: 70 | Power: 60 | Speed: 50 | Fielding: 50 | Arm: 55
Rogers: Hit: 60 | Power: 55 | Speed: 50 | Fielding: 55 | Arm: 60

The tools are graded differently on Pipeline. Bichette is also 1.5~ years younger at the same level. And Rogers had 164 PA in AA prior to this year and wasn’t great.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
