It will be a plus if he can hit. But adding a infield utility guy with plus SS defense never hurts.

If the Yankee’s are known for developing pitching, I guess we’re going for the deepest middle infield depth chart in all of baseball. If we have fifty guys at shortstop, one of them could be the next Lindor or Bogaerts right?

I generally like good bat to ball guys that hit the ball hard, and Espinal fits that bill. But I also like guys who can take a walk, and he falls well short there. I also don't like that ginormous leg kick, especially since he doesn't hit for much power (though apparently that's changed somewhat this year).

All in all he likely tops out as a utility infielder at the big league level, and that's a pretty solid return for half a year of Steve Pearce, even if we are eating some of the money.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I think we are all hoping that's Bichette... throw enough darts and hopefully one hits a bulls-eye

Walk off grand slam against the Angels. I was there. It was pretty cool. Going to miss Pearce. He mashed left handed pitching. Wish him all the best in Boston. I'm also excited about Espinal. Good trade for both teams.

Unless you trade the one that actually turns into that type of player you were hoping, cough Syndergaard cough.

The good thing is Shapiro rarely makes really bad trades though his bigger contract signings have been the problem. Hafner, Swisher, Bourn, Morales... luckily he doesn't have many as he tend to avoid the big deals.

Shapiro with the way he values prospects to build a sustainable winner could be dangerous with money to spend.
