When people ask me, in a decade, where I was for Luke Maile's first two-homer game, I will lie and say I saw the whole damned thing.

On the day we sacrificed Dwane Casey to lift the Toronto curse, God gave us Luke Maile.

Some stats on that second home run: the pitch was out of the zone down, and Maile hit it 418 feet to right-center at an exit velocity of 105.1 mph. That was a Giancarlo Stanton dinger.

And 30 minutes before this game I sent Fangraphs a hot tip that they were missing the Luke Maile Experience. Why you gotta do a guy like that, Luke.

A little update here: despite his cold streak and propensity for the swing-and-miss in May, he is still ranked #1 in WAR among all AL catchers (tied with Gary Sanchez despite having half as many PA's), and is leading all Blue Jays position players in WAR. He has some adjustments to make since pitchers are treating him as an actual hitter now, which may dampen his superstardom. But he still hits rockets when he gets the bat on the ball, which is nice.

There isn't a whole lot to be happy about in Jays Land lately, and certainly not much wrt Like Maile. But I'm at the game today and here is the man, the myth, the legend himself.
