Why? He was a big part of both of our play-off runs. It's not his fault his contract is awful, or that he suffered injuries.

I agree that publicly he came across as stubborn and maybe a little selfish about his unwillingness to adapt to a position or role change, but did it really change that much? We're starting a rebuild and don't really need an old, injured vet clogging up an infield roster spot when that's our deepest area of depth.

A guy who literally said "play me as a starter at shortstop, or send me home". Then, when we released him, he's willing to play multiple positions for other teams and is ok with a bench role. I know that we didn't really need him, but that's still a snake move on his part, especially when he's always boasting about how much of a leadership guy he is. He essentially forced his way out of here while taking every possible penny from us. Not blaming him, but I definitely don't respect him for what he did.

I'm not sure if he was ever good enough while on the Jays or with the team long enough to develop notoriety that begets booing. I mean, it's possible a few boo and then some of the drunks decide booing is fun even if they don't know what they're booing for and a smattering of it happens. It would be pretty funny to hear dead silence when he was introduced on his return. ...if he gets introduced at all. He needs to be good to go and have a place to play on the Yankees. I'm not so sure he's actually going to play much.

I think the crowd will find any reason they can to boo a Yankees player.

On the other, there won't be much of a crowd next season lol.

Really starting to believe this signing by the Yanks is a $555,000 gambit to strengthen their position at the table with Machado. "We still have Didi, and even though he's hurt right now, Troy Tulowitzki is more than capable of being our starting short stop at the moment. We'll pay you well, be we're not desperate". The 0.55 MILLION they pay Tulo this year might save them 20+ MILLION over a 10-year deal with Machado."Negotiating from strength"....
