Alright. There are two scenerios that come out of this 'revelation' and neither bode well for the Jays.

One, if it's a lie, Ricciardi is making up excuses for Wells' lack of performance. Maybe the soreness came from that big raise he was carrying over his shoulder.

Two, if there is some validity to this soreness, why has Wells been so rarely rested during the year? What is the point of keeping this kind of problem behind closed doors? Well, then again, JP has been known to keep injuries from the public, and it just makes him and the management look foolish each time they're revealed. Plus, Matt Stairs could have EASILY been started for a portion of games in order to rest Vernon and the outfielders could have been shifted around with Rios taking CF. This entire season is ridiculous. Just what is Gibbons thinking? I know that Wells has been paid ALOT to play, and is expected to 'suck it up' but if he's not batting well and it's partially due to a sore shoulder he had ALL YEAR LONG, why hurt the team when you have a capable guy sitting on the bench?

JP Ricciardi has already struck a bad note in me for his lack of trades and his foolish signings. With AJ Burnett, JP also seemed to have a 'suck it up and play' mentality even when AJ wasn't right. Maybe JP also transferred this mentality to Vernon too over the season's course. After all, both Wells and Burnett are overpaid signings perpetrated by Ricciardi. It is possible he'd want them to prove their worth despite the circumstances.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pissed about no disclosure from Riccardi YET AGAIN
Bu I'm more concerned with the
GM J.P. Ricciardi confirmed to MLB.com yesterday that his center fielder has had an issue with his shoulder since last season
part.

If he had that issue since last season, tell me again why we gave him Beltran/A-Rod/Manny money?

Riccardi continues to prove why he is the dumbest GM in the majors. Hell, even the Seattle GM (he of the Soriano for Horacio Ramirez trade) is showing progress in his tenure.

Guess its his left shoulder, since he has had no problems throwing runners out from CF this year?

I find it hilarious that its Riccardi and Mickey Brantley who brought it up to the papers, two guys likely worrying about their jobs. Whereas when it was brought up to Wells all he said was that it wasnt an excuse and he wasnt talking about it. Seems like he has a lot of pride in himself and maybe he wont accept days off?

I think its all on JP. I mean his job is in jeopardy and that signing isn't looking too good right now. I know I'm pointing out the obvious but really, JP has got to go soon.

As for the self pride someone just mentioned that could very well be true too but I would think Vernon would do whats best for him after all he did demand all that money.

Whatever though, JP is starting to piss me off with all this **** so somethings gotta give...

Sadly I think JP's job is safe for now. I bet he keeps convincing Godfrey that he knows what he's doing and everything is under control. Can't wait til this guy is gone.

I remember watching a game on CBC and Jesse Barfield commenting on the holes in Vernon's swing and saying he was dropping his shoulder, and coming off the ball.

Just wondering....could that shoulder dropping be a sign of V-Dub's injury. Vernon's dropping shoulder in the swing could be a result of injury....hmmm.

So, players injured/recently DL'ed/playing through injuries are...

Ryan DL
League DL
Chacin DL
Wells
Glaus
Overbay
Zaun
Johnson
Burnett

Calling all team trainers, interviews on Monday Oct 1st @ 9 A.M lollol.
