No Charlie I can pretty much guarantee as an outsider guy's aren't having fun losing 8 out of their last 11 games....maybe send that message on upstairs.

I think Montoyo has realized that his time is short in Majors so hes just effing with the media. Whereas Shatkins are going to pin the BP failures (and their inaction to address them) of this year on Montoyo at end of the year, when they fire him.

It's clear that Montoyo just views this as a development year. If we win, great. If we lose, at least we had fun and can keep working hard. This is the mentality you have in year 1 of a rebuild, not in a year where you have a MVP in your lineup and an elite offense.

Charlie was a coach in Tampa, and keeping things fun has been a big part of their ethos under Maddon/Cash, because relaxed baseball players tend to perform better than stressed ones. The problem is that he's a dingus and phrased in just about the worst possible way, because doing things in the worst possible way is his MO in general.

**** your asterisk.

If Siddall gets fired for telling the truth, this season will go from bad to worse. Siddall probably sees what us fans see - that this is a good team with a crappy manager.
Charlie sounds like a guy who has lost the room, or is rapidly losing it. I don't buy that management wasn't trying to compete this year. You don't sign Semien for one year at $19MM - and displace Biggio from 2nd in the process - unless you plan to make the playoffs. It's not too late to salvage the season, especially with lots of games remaining against weak opposition, but we can't have a manager that will blow 1 out of 10 of those games.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

pretty much a manager who's just a babysitter at this point. he should put his mask back on because his dumb clueless face on what is happening in the game is pretty much the epitome of his managerial capabilities.

The front office can't be really fine with Montoyo for the long term. They just can't

If Montoyo gets fired this season, I'd actually be fine with this season being a wash. But worst case scenario is him sticking around next season and probably getting fired halfway if the team isn't a contender. We'd be essentially wasting this season and next by doing that. At least if not this mid-season, I really hope he's gone by the offseason.

I'm resigned to the fact that an MVP calibre season from Vladdy will be wasted this year, we should try not to have it happen again next.

He's not going to get fired this year. These guys don't operate like that. Very much process oriented (to the point where they won't even turn away from their plans and use the few major league quality arms we have in our organization in MLB right now despite the bullpen being an unmitigated disaster). Only chance would be the offseason if they determine that he's enough of an impediment to winning.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I have no idea what is going on with George Springer right now, but playing 5 innings, then a DH day, then 6 innings, then an off day is pretty odd to me. If you extrapolate that rate going forward, the guy won't be ready to play 9 innings in the field every day for another month.
I never knew baseball was so strenuous.
