If it's any consolation, apparently Kevin Cash is scared of Charlie Montoyo.

As a Jays fan, I am also scared of Charlie Montoyo.

Part of me wonders if the WC comes down to the last game or two, will the old Charlie come back and Charlie away a win like he has done several times this year. We haven't seen the last of Charlie "I bunt with two strikes" "I thought he had a chance to hit a homerun" Montoyo.

This could happen, but it wouldn’t change the clear case Montoya has forged as an incompetent manager. It would just prove that we have a boatload of talent.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

What are going to do with this boatload of talent? We can't afford to keep everyone.

Same problem every good team has. Luckily we still have some good prospects coming up through the pipeline to help keep payroll down.

If this happens, it will be in spite of Montoyo, not because of him.

Even with a couple of the kids hitting arb, we could comfortably retain all of our talent for the next couple seasons.

It will become something of an issue from about 2024 on, and that will have some bearing on whether we want to retain some talent at this time. Retaining Ray, Semien and Berrios is feasible, but giving them long-term deals would also create a payroll bomb as we approach Vlad/Bo's free agency after 2025 that would make it extremely difficult to keep them.

Nobody ever mentions Matz. What do you think his free agent number looks like?

Yep. Sooo,,, how about early extensions for Bo and Vlad? IMO you lock down who you MUST retain first - and get a slight discount on AAV for paying the pre-arb and arb years. Then you see what's left in your budget for supplementary players/veterans.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

World Series champion, Ned Yost.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
