Cavan Biggio is making some progress down in Buffalo. He played in his 4th game since returning from injury and went 3 for 5 with a HR and a walk in a 20-3 drubbing of Rochester yesterday.

Ignoring all the pitching injuries, Springer has barely played and Jansen, Tellez and Gurriel have all been hitting at below replacement level.

Other then perhaps Vlade, who probably doesn’t fit here either, is there a single hitter on the team who has exceeded to the point where we should expect regression?

Maaaaaaaaybe Grichuk? If I had to choose somebody.

Teoscar's 300+ avg might be tough to maintain as well, but I feel like he's doing it sustainably.

Update, yup, looks like it was sustainable. Wow, I'm Impressed. In the top 4 for both average and RBIs, and just outside of the top 10 for OPS. What a great, understated season he's been having.

Good call on Grichick by you. But many of the players we were talking about actually got even better. Semien. Gurriel. Jansen. Kirk. Hernandez

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Oh yeah, it's been an absolutely ridiculous season offensively; we've been firing on all cylinders and it's beautiful to watch.

Honestly, I believed that the Jays would eventually reach this level, but I sure as heck didn't think it would happen this year.

How does a franchise have this pitching staff in 2014 and then go 47-114 five years later?

All I have ever meant is this.
The comparison is flawed IMO,because of the amount of games was 11 ,compared to the first half of the season.Thats it.

Backtrack…backtrack…backtrack….

At least Vlade busted his slump based on your iron clad theory that it was because of his spot in the order……

I,m not backtracking, was clear from the start.
He busted out of his slump after he stopped batting 2nd.He so does not want to ever bat 2nd.

Vlad, in 18 games hitting 2nd: 79 PA, OPS of .741.

Vlad, in his next 17 games hitting 3rd: 78 PA, OPS of .756.

It's remarkable: the profound effects of hitting 2nd were felt so deeply that it took a full three weeks of him hitting 3rd to shake them off. Or, like, he was in a perfectly natural slump that had absolutely nothing to do with his position in the batting order.

this wilner podcast with donaldson is terrific
- his game 3 winning run vs. texas in 2016, he didn't jump on tulo because he had a fractured foot
- tears up talking about how much he loved being here and how the situation surrounding his departure was hard on him
- talked about game 6 of the 2015 alcs
- shows why he's one of the most informed and insightful players in his argument for vlad vs. shohei, things i've never heard yet (eg. twins pitchers don't game plan for shohei like they do for vlad)
- clearly wants to come back here

IMO,Vlad would never admit it publicly, but he would rather bat 3rd than 2nd anytime.
Here he is miced up when youtube had the Seattle vs Jays youtube game.
I would prefer to see him batting with more guys on base, making pitchers cringe at the thought of having to pitch to him in that scenario.

Has there been a duo with a less heralded 75 HRs than Teo and Marcus?

Semien is making some noise, but with all the attention that Vlade is getting, having our next two sluggers hit 75 just quietly sneaking up on ya.
