Does anybody know how often a team hits 'Homeruns for the cycle'? (1, 2, 3, and 4 run homers) I can't recall seeing it before, but it was really cool to watch. =)

Seriously, I'll never understand how persistent the JaYs OnLy SwInG fOr ThE fEnCeS thing has been the past two seasons. We have the second-lowest K rate in baseball from 2021-2022. We also have the best batting average in that span. That isn't all Kirk. We just aren't a team that strikes out much relative to everyone else in baseball and gets a lot of base hits because we have a lot of line-drive hitters. After our bad start, from May 15th on we're 4th in K rate and have the second-best batting average in baseball and people are still freaking claiming that we're a go-for-broke power team.

There also isn't a huge amount of correlation between K rate and offensive success. Yeah, the Astros and Jays are 1st and 2nd in both wRC+ and K rate from 2021-2022, but after that it gets seriously muddy. The Yankees team with the world-beating offense that seemed to be nearly impossible to strike out? They strike out more than us this year.

Hopefully this lights a fire in the guys. We still badly need bullpen help though. And another semi-reliable starter would be nice, but I think we can live without one if we could add a few quality arms to the pen.

If they get another starter, they can put stripling back in long relief. id like to see kikuchi go there but im sure it wont happen.

If Kikuchi continues to pitch like he has in his last 6 Starts towards the end of July, I would think even Montoyo would have the sense to utilize Kikuchi as the long relief guy. I would rather keep Stripling in the rotation, while this team can hopefully acquire another decent Starter using Jansen and some of our mid-tier prospects as trade bait.

I think a couple factors go into it, cause I see it on other forums/twitter/Online too with a "we're homerun or strike out team". I don't think casual fans really have adjusted to the way baseball is played. It's definitely trending to be a more 3 outcome type of game. Even baseball has kinda acknowledged that by trying to get rid of the shift. Plus so many relievers are throwing 98+ plus so it's harder to hit so may as well make the contact you get for a homerun.

Also just small sample size as well. Yankees are indeed world beaters but seeing them light our pitching up for 24 runs across 3 games when our offense kinda spurterd 3 days in a row including the shut out to Baltimore (nothing sample size but lots of people tuning in for this series) also contributes to that. Wish people would actually see the numbers tho this is one of the best offenses in baseball. Idk what these fans would do if they were forced to watch the Ray's struggle to score 3 runs a night lmao
