Varsho has been quite underwhelming with his performance in spring training. My only highlight of him is the nice diving catch in LF. The bat has been quiet. Let's hope he picks it up when the season starts. We gave up a lot to get him.

Him and Chapman have had pretty disappointing springs imo. But it's still just exhibition games so I won't judge too harshly till the games start to matter.

I definitely wouldn't get too worked up over ST numbers. Our standout performer in 2022 was Gurriel, who then proceeded to be absolute ass for the first two months of the season. Former Jays prospect Kevin Smith had a big ST for Oakland, to the point where I remember people suggesting we'd made a mistake trading him, and then he hit .180/.216/.302 in the regular season.
**** your asterisk.

So I shouldn't get too excited by Barger? But I want to get excited about Barger.

Nunez looks like Edwin at the plate. Will be interesting to see how he adjusts to AA pitching which Is where I see him being assigned. The upper minors will have some interesting stories - Tiedemann, Robberse, Dasan Brown, Rainer Nunez, G. Martinez, O Martinez, Barger, Robert Robertis, Adam Macko, Zueleta, Adrian Hernandez, Bowden Francis (if they keep him in relief), Spencer Horwitz. Vancouver will have the high college draft picks - Doughty, Roden, Kasevich, plus Manuel Beltre. It feels like the system will be well-balanced, with prospects like Toman, Barriera, giving DUN a couple of prep guys who could be fast movers.
2019 will never be forgotten because FLAGS FLY FOREVER

Berrios looked good today for what its worth

Imagine how big the bases would have to be!

against a pretty weak Baltimore lineup. i wouldn't get too excited. let's see how he does when the season starts.

Yusei Kikuchi Profile: player info, stats, news, video - Sportsnet.ca
News
Kikuchi gave up two runs on one hit and three walks over 3.1 innings in Friday's split-squad game against the Phillies. He struck out three.
Impact
The southpaw got stretched out to 76 pitches, but only 46 of them went for strikes. Kikuchi looked good early in camp but his control has begun to desert him again with Opening Day growing closer, and he now has a 16:9 K:BB through 13 spring innings despite a superficially strong 1.38 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. The 31-year-old has a career 5.02 ERA and 3.67 BB/9 since coming to MLB in 2019, and there's been no real sign this spring he's going to be any more reliable in 2023.

I really much prefer the Kikuchi who is missing bats this way, rather than last year's who was missing bats by being way outside the zone and just walking everybody.

Nate Pearson healthy and looking good? Doubt he starts the season here unless White is on the DL but a good Pearson definitely adds another good arm for the pen.
