People on this forum (they know who they are) actually supported this move. It was always a mistake to flush down 15 5 million on a soon to be 41 year old Damaged Goods Scherzer, who you were lucky to get a couple of good starts before the deadline.
With the combined around 20 million bucks committed to Straw and Scherzer, this team could have spent that money much more wisely to shore up the bullpen with more quality arms, another Power Bat in the lineup (Teoscar), or even a different more durable Starter like Jack Flaherty (who signed with Detroit with one year opt-out). Talk about not spending your financial resources wisely.
