What a disaster. With a 6-1 lead and Shane Bieber starting, it's mind boggling how we got to this spot.

Bieber sucked. As much as people criticize the defense, he choked at the biggest stage. He could not even complete three innings.

There was no need to pull him after a sacrifice fly, plus 1 run on an error..he was still up 3 runs..could have settled down and win it for us..

Feel sad for all the Jays fans who spent their hard earned money to travel to New York, only to witness this defensive collapse and choke job.

IKF error, Barger error, Vlad misplay (even if not an error) and Santander bad route is the difference. Santander gaffe was predictable, but these plays cost us 4 runs tonight. Sometimes you make bad plays, and you still find ways to get away with a 0 at the end of the inning. Not tonight - every mistake we have made in the field has cost us a run.

This is the most frustrating thing to me, because this is not how we have played this year. We have had extended hitting shortages - so if that happened that would not be totally surprising. Bullpen blowups for extended days has been an issue, so a bad bullpen game is surprising.

But being able to directly track 4 runs to our defence is just not something I would expect.

the pitching is completely different

Yeah it’s even worse than it was in 2022

Nope it’s gonna be the barger error.
It's going to be Barger but that 0-2 pitch in spite of being a great pitch has to be at Judge's ankles or a foot off the plate. Don't give him a really hard pitch to hit hard, give him an impossible to pitch to hit hard.

Me too. I thought the Yankees would score some more runs, but we’d add on a few more as well and win like 8-5. What I didn’t expect was for a team as fundamentally sound on the defensive end as the Jays to have numerous blunders in the field directly leading to 4 or 5 runs.

To make matters worse, our bats have gone absolutely cold. Two hits and 5 Ks since the 4-run 3rd inning. Feels like it’s going to take a miracle to get 4-5 runs out of 6 outs.

Go with Lukes in RF, and Straw in LF tomorrow. Go with your best outfield defense since Lauer will need it.

They choked in a very difficult road playoff environment, just gotta hope it doesn’t happen tomorrow

Of course it probably won’t matter tomorrow given the pitching disadvantage, they choked away what was almost certainly their best chance to win this series tonight

I guarantee you’ll see both of those guys starting after what Santander did last inning

I hated the way Scherzer finished the season but I'd much prefer having him to maybe pitch a couple innings in a game like tomorrow than Bruhl.

Exactly

He’s that damn good, can’t even give him the opportunity to show why

(hindsight) Knowing they are doing a bp in game 4,With no Bassit, they should have extended Yesavage 10-20 more pitches, and get an ever bigger standing O for k-ing Judge /Bellinger.
Must have been khakis decision.

Why was Barger even put in so early?

they choked it. no need to sugarcoat or overthink it. and that will gnaw at them but they can make it right tomorrow. but john was horrible today, especially in terms of selecting this lineup and his decision-making overall. he's gotta be better.

With Judge batting second, I assume we start a righty for the first inning tomorrow (or possibly up to Stanton) and then give it to Lauer.

I assume at one point Varland was a candidate for the start tomorrow. That is probably off the table now.

My guess is its Francis to start. (EDIT - Fisher I mean - sorry if I caused any bad flashbacks)
