Orelvis Martinez cleared waivers and the Jays outright released him.

Would have to think there was some sort of attitude issue -- if it was simply performance reasons I can't see them releasing him outright.

This absolutely has the ability to come back and absolutely embarrass us, if he goes on to become a rotation piece elsewhere. Especially given some of the others at the bottom of that 40-man.

I wonder how Ricky Romero's career went after they let him go

Probably about as well as Easton Lucas, Dillon Tate and Justin Bruihl's will go.

Those guys have all far been more useful to the Jays over the past 3 years than some guy who can barely hit 90 anymore with zero command of a single pitch he throws

Bruihl: 5.68 ERA 2.05 WHIP
Tate: 4.26 ERA 2.21 WHIP
Lucas: 6.66 ERA 1.52 WHIP
Very useful indeed for us this season

Far better than what the DFA'd one would have done if his minor league numbers and atrocious stuff are any indication

2024 Manoah 3.70 ERA 1.027 WHIP
Certainly more useful than any of these guys have been for us in the last 3 years

Corpse Manoah has been worth -0.4 WAR over the last three seasons. Scrubs Lucas, Tate, and Bruihl have been worth -0.1 WAR in that time.
I suppose the better way to put it is that they at least did far less damage to this franchise in that stretch than he did
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

lol so if we kept Manoah and just didn't use him, he would also be more valuable than all of them.
Why is the cut off 3 seasons? Why aren't we using the last 2 seasons or the last 4 or 5?
The last 2 seasons, he's been more valuable than all of those guys and obviously the last 4 or 5 is no contest. So, only framing it the way you do supports your argument.

The cutoff is 3 seasons because 2022 was the last time Manoah was an actual major league caliber pitcher
How long did you want to keep this scrub on for? Another 2 years?

I'll take the scrub that's actually done something in the Majors over the ones who never have.

I'll take the scrubs whose arms haven't fallen off yet myself
