Re: 2026 Minor League/Prospects Discussion Thread
Honestly, with all the hitting problems this Jays team is having, I'd bring up Keys earlier than that and find a way to get him some ABs. Maybe he can actually cash in some of these RISP.

Tiedemann is throwing in game action again, for the first time in nearly two years. https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/news/ricky-tiedemann-first-game-since-2024

One very strong dude. If this Jays season continues to go sideways, I see audition coming for Keys by September.

Keys with another homer last night. As well as a single and two walks.
I don't know whether they can find a position for him - he's basically a 1B/3B/DH, and not a particularly good glove at 3B. He could become primary DH next season or be an interesting trade piece for a vet with some control.

Re: 2026 Minor League/Prospects Discussion Thread
Swap Keys for McAdoo. I think McAdoo isn't really needed now that Davis is back up with the squad and can take games at 2B when needed. I'd rather have Keys' bat on the bench and slotted in at DH/1B when possible/practical.
It's another lefty bat, I know, but it's looking like he's too good to keep out of the big club for much longer, and while I still like McAdoo, I think he could use more AAA time.

I think the issue is that Keys is a "developing" promising prospect, and McAdoo is more of the mature type prospect. We don't want to call up Keys and not play him 4 or 5 days a week. While Pinango and Sanchez are not great, but they are decent and not the issue.
But the more and more Keys gets development AB's and does well, he will force his his way into discussions.

The Florida Complex League (FCL) isn’t considered Single-A or Double-A. It actually sits a level below those, in what’s called Rookie-level ball—more specifically, the Complex level.
It’s mainly a developmental league run by Major League Baseball, where you’ll find recent draft picks, international signings, and players working their way back from injuries.
Teams don’t play in traditional minor league stadiums. Instead, games take place at the spring training facilities of their MLB clubs. The atmosphere is pretty low-key and focused on development—most games happen during the day, admission is usually free, and the crowds are small, often just scouts, coaches, and a few family members.
There’s also the Dominican Summer League (DSL), which sits just below the FCL. That’s typically where many international prospects get their first taste of pro baseball before making the move to the U.S.

I didn't see anything about Tiedemann's outing. Did he even pitch?
Looks like the new Italian kid got pushed up to Dunedin already.

Re: 2026 Minor League/Prospects Discussion Thread
So much angst about how the Jays lost last night, but they only had one run on four hits. That's where the problem continues to lie. At Buffalo, Sean Keys had two more homers - he's up to 20 over two levels - and Jay Harry had two hits including a double. A lot is being written and spoken about Keys, and how to get him ABs at the MLB level. Harry is also a left-handed batter, but he has played six positions in the minors and 1B was not even one of them, so he can presumably play 1B as well. I get the right/left balance issue, but if your right-handed batters aren't delivering - save for Okomoto and Clement - and a majority of major league pitchers are right handed, does it matter. The offence needs a shake-up.
Buster Olney also had an interesting article yesterday. Left handed offence is up this season, and ABS might be one reason because pitch framing has tended to disadvantage left-handed batters more than right-handed batters.

Yeah, I'm all for getting Keys and Harry up to the big leagues as soon as possible at this point. If the Jays were slugging away I'd say just let these guys keep destroying AAA, but I'm getting pretty tired of watching the Jays walk and single-base hit their way into stranding runners. Let's see some extra-base hits and dingers.
