One day that might be true… but they acquired him to be a left handed power threat in the middle of the order that could break up all their right handed bats, and he hasnt been that his first 2 seasons.

Meanwhile …Arizona got an all-star season out of Gurriel and a GG season out of Moreno. Both in year 1, and that helped them go all the way to the world series.

Then they got 2 superior offensive players last year too, as both Moreno and Gurriel posted a higher OPS+ in 2024 than Varsho.

Varsho is eventually going to win at least 1 gold glove in the outfield, but until he wins 2 or 3.. i think Arizona still wins that one.

People like to include Kirk in that trade comp, but he has nothing to do with it. Its. 2 for 1 deal.

If Arizona had won that world series, they would be the hands down winner of that trade…. Forever . Unless Varsho helps the Jays win 1 or 2. ;)

I can't believe we're at page 85 for a deal that is so incredibly non consequential to either team in the long run.

It won't. Jays have already lost the trade. This trade was all about opportunity cost and the Jays window. Jays made this trade with 2023 in mind (and maybe 2024). Both years, Varsho fell well short of expectations.

D'Backs dealt from a position of strength and got better with an extended playoff window. Jays dealt from their position of strength and got worse with a closed contention window. It's no contest who won the trade.

Could Moreno hit it off the 5th deck? Like is it physically possible?

i vaguely remember one of moreno’s rare home runs where he hit it into the 5th row at one of those bandbox parks. first deck.

Closer view to the homer. He should be up there with the fans watching the game, not playing it. Better suited.

Moreno has been way worse than I thought. I was high on him but it became apparent leading up to his big league debut that his power would be a concern.

Atkins has made a lot of poor moves but it’s quite clear he did very well in this trade.

The irony of criticizing Moreno's "power," who's been an above average hitter his first two seasons (and again this year, even with a horrid start), and then saying Atkins did well in the trade with the Varsho trade when he's been a well below average hitter in his first two seasons.

And he's trending that way again; .250 OBP and with his slugging being unsustainable; it's likely he's below 100 OPS+ once again. Most likely by mid-June, if not by the end of May.

It's one of the best trades this decade by any franchise. Too bad the rest of their moves weren't quite as good.

You are absolutely delusional, and need your head examined. Not sure you believe the nonsense you spew calling the Varsho trade "one of the best trades this decade by any franchise". On what basis is it the best trade by any franchise? Not when Varsho was one of the worst everyday offensive players in MLB in 2023, and for five months in 2024 was atrocious hitting below .200.
Varsho was a terrible below average hitter the past two seasons, and is trending downward again this year. Nobody is arguing about his outfield defense.

When the home runs cool off, he is back to being the .200 hitter he has always been. Say what you want, but Arizona was the clear winner in 2023 going to the World Series with both Moreno and Gurriel. Moreno has the same number of home runs this year as the "Power Bat" of your hero Kirk. Yet he is making only $793,000 and 11 million a year less than Kirk. Still under team control for three more years after that for Arizona.

He might lack power, but Moreno has been an above average hitter while providing excellent defense the past two years. Gurriel has more home runs than your hero Varsho, and has been a better offensive player than Varsho also the past two years. You make it seem like the Jays acquired Mike Trout 2.0, by calling it one of the "best trades this decade by any franchise". But they acquired a Mendoza Level .200 hitter with some pop, but who is terrible otherwise offensively (OPS, BA,SLG, On Base). Nobody is arguing about Varsho's stellar defense.
