Anybody else following Beer Can Gate? I can't wait until they arrest the person. Cops said they would be releasing photos if they didn't turn their self in.

I did see this, but thanks for posting it. It's fun to call out people who actually deserve it sometimes.

What a game..a true roller coaster ride...great game by both teams got the up most respect for the O's...they are a hell of a team! I would also like to say I was super impressed by the umpiring in this game. This guy was so on point and might be the best umpired game I've ever seen. Us fans are crazy but what that person did with the can was ridiculous. No room for that......other than that..........BRING ON THE RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He didn't really say that, although reports from an Orioles fan said that someone told Kim to go back to his country, which is not a good thing to do.

Also, remember when Detroit fans burned down a historic home on opening day?

I don't know why you keep pointing out examples of other team's issues.

There's no denying that there's a culture at the Dome over the years of dude bro types that see Jays games as an occasion to get into drunken fights, particularly in the 500 deck, and particularly in losing seasons. That needs to be acknowledged and addressed. If one of the ways that's addressed is to get us a better, smaller ballpark then all the better. And whatever reason that we've had two years in a row of fans throwing beer on the field also needs to be addressed.

It's more pointing out the absurdity of the classless Jays fans narrative. All fans are classless, if this is our criteria.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

The beer can toss was stupid and classless but people shouldn't pretend it even ranks on the bad fan behaviour scale.

It could have but it didn't. There have been assaults, knife attacks bomb attacks and even murders by fans at sporting events. An attempted but failed assault with a half empty beer can still doesn't rank IMO. This doesn't mean that I'm condoning it or don't think it wasn't ridiculously stupid.

Really? I obviously have no real clue but I can't imagine it doing much damage at all.

just curious though, after edwin hit that bomb, he literally stood at home plate with his hands up because he knew he hit it and no one made a peep about it... if jose bautista does the exact same thing in that situation, would it have been a bat flip controversy? im just trying to understand the context of the bat flip argument... is it because edwin didn't actually flip his bat? is it because it was a game winning walk off home run and not just a go ahead home run? whats the difference in this situation that makes it not as disrespectful as any other time a guy admires his home run?

The only real argument I can remember the hot take artists making was that it was only the 7th inning, and thus you shouldn't be acting as if you won the game.

thats dumb though, the context of that home run justifies the emotion that came when it was hit. really my post was sort of rhetorical, i was just trying to highlight how ridiculous the bat flip argument is. if they choose to ignore it in this situation then that means it really isnt a problem to begin with. the way people interpret and perceive things differently from situation to situation will always be strange to me.

It was dumb. I hit a three-run home run in the 7th of a series-deciding game, I'm running the bases backward, bare ass glinting in the floodlights. But they couldn't even play that card with Encarnacion, because the game was literally over long before he even reached first base...he could have fallen to the dirt in the batter's box and made chalk angels and the Jays still had a win, as there were less than two outs and Travis was the winning run.

Edit: I think. He'd be called out on appeal, as has happened with other walk-off home runs that weren't, but that wouldn't affect the ability of the runners to advance, because the ball is out of play, and the out would happen i) after the run scores and ii) wouldn't be inning-ending, right? The rulebook does not anticipate this scenario, it seems. ****, someone has to do this now, I want to see the four-hour umpire conference.

This is always such a frustrating thing to hear. He probably made a dozen, if not more, "mistakes" of that scale that the batter simply wasn't ready for, or missed by an eighth of an inch and popped up rather than putting over the fence, or jsut didn't swing at for whatever reason. I don't think people realize how imprecise pitchers actually are at spotting their pitches. They almost never go exactly where they're intended.

I get financials and all that, but it's going to be **** awful if the Jays are without both EE and Bautista next year. Between the bat flip and the pose, they've put their stamp on Jays history. Anyone who turns their back on those guys, should they leave, no matter how hard the feelings, needs to be publicly shamed - maybe bring back town square stocks or something like that.
