Astros reliever Phil Maton revealed Tuesday that he broke his right pinkie when he punched a locker in frustration after Houston's regular-season finale and will miss the postseason.

Bringing in a HR prone pitcher against one of the top HR hitters in baseball with the game on the line for the first time as a reliever this year ended about as you'd expect.

it was about as non-competitive a strike as he could have possibly thrown there. flat and right in the wheelhouse. from a pitcher who has been absolutely torched of late against one of the best hitters in the game which ends how you'd expect: no doubt off the bat and that sweet, sweet schadenfreude. what an incredible decision by yet another galaxy brain manager.

I was laughing when I saw him warming up because you just knew it'd be him vs Alvarez. Ray clearly wasn't comfortable pitching out of the pen either 2 meatballs. Thought they'd just spam sliders away hoping he'd get antsy. Honestly not sure why they even pitched to him anyways.

well Atlanta lost. too much volatility in the playoffs. pretty much everything has to go perfect to win it all.

Now imagine the Jays come back next year with the same crew and win it all lol

heartbreaking: mariners fans just watched their team go scoreless in 18 innings and get eliminated, meaning they still haven't seen their team score a run at home in the playoffs since 2001.

Aroldis Chapman royally sucks this year. But it may have helped if they had him on the playoff roster instead of having to go to someone who hasn’t been in that position.

Whether I believe he would have done any better or not, I’m all for Yankee controversy and second guessing.

And then Aaron Boone probably lied about Clay Holmes' status and Severino and Holmes threw Boone under the bus.

Fun times in New York.

three 100+ win, "world series" level teams sent packing. it's almost as if any team can beat any team in the playoffs.

I think vaff87 is a fan of mine. He keeps bringing me up. I like it!

Here's my latest hot take. The series isn't over yet you dipstick. The Yankees are the better team, I still think they come back and win this series. Astros won their series. One of the two will win the World Series.

But not the dodgers, or braves. Because they don’t have what it takes to win in the playoffs. No grit.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

They clearly weren’t hungry enough. Didn’t have that dawg in them. Hungry dogs run faster hit and pitch better.
