Sanchez is a starter in the same way that I'd be a Formula 1 driver if you put me behind the wheel. Sure, perhaps in a technical sense, but it's going to end with a lot of crashing and burning. He's a reliever, and the Astros will use him as such, but he's also going to be an expensive reliever.

As poor as Sanchez has thrown, he's still more valuable as pitcher than 4th outfielder type. Hell even as an elite reliever. I don't get why we are going for some man fringe like talents...

I would have kept Sanchez and continued to work on him. I had lost faith in Biagini. He seems very hittable of late. Even with today's roster additions, I still count 38 players on the 40 man roster.

I'd have been inclined to just use Sanchez as a reliever as well, but it should like he had a distinct preference to remain a starter. And there's really no time to continue working on him as a starter. He's a free agent after next season, and even if he had a good year (and that seems doubtful), I wouldn't even consider an extension given his unreliability. He's a terrible starter than might be a solid middle reliever, but he'll be getting paid like a much more valuable commodity. Those get non-tendered pretty often.

Why do we care about money in the short-term? Is management really thinking " Gee, we better sell low on Sanchez because he's bout to be paid more than a middle reliever ought to be for one year"

Wow we gave up Cal Stevenson too? We better be getting something else.

If we're trading Cal Stevenson, who is an actual prospect (though not a top tier one), we'd best be getting something back.

Being paid more than a middle reliever ought to also affect his trade value, because if he turns out to be a solid middle reliever, he still has basically zero value unless we eat money, in which case he has marginally more value given that rental middle relievers aren't very valuable.

I dont think I've ever hated a management team as much as this regime. I feel like their entire trade philosophy is based on a trade randomizer.

We better be getting something really good in his deal or I've lost complete faith.

Sanchez is such a garbage pitcher I'm just glad he's gone.

He is but you can reclaim him as a reliever and extract more value than this garbage dump
