We must be leading the league in strikeouts against. That's 7K so far in 4 innings for Cannings.

Cyrus wrote:Because as the season progressed in 2019, his numbers got worse, he had better first half than 2nd half, and that continued in 2020, and probably why LAD decided to cut bait (Plus his arb years were coming, wasn't cost effective anymore).

His 2019 year, his batted ball, hard contact percentage was highest in his career (well beside 2021 so far), it continued as well in 2020.

His 2019 numbers were fine. His xwOBA was .283, which is very good, and his xERA was 3.56. Average exit velocity was up a tick, but not much. His worse second-half numbers literally come down to two appearances on July 2nd and 7th: if you look at his numbers from July 8th on, he was downright dominant.

I really don't see anything there that should have constituted a red flag.

We entered the game 13th in K%. It's pretty scary that a 26.5 K% is only 13th; three teams had struck out in more than 30% of their PAs entering today (BAL/ATL/MIL).

Pretty awesome seeing Othani hitting and pitching in the majors and being good at doing both.

Talk about a straightball to Trout.

That Trout moonshot went 444 feet, but it wasn’t hit quite as hard as the Vladdy homer.

Semien is not a leadoff hitter. He should be in the bottom third of the order, and hopefully will be when Springer returns.

10 bucks, he slides into 2, and Biggio is the one that get bumped down.

The rumours of Vlad's bust status might have been a shade premature.

Vladdy just slaps a ball the other way and it goes 105.8 mph.

Yeah, he's finally simply trusting his power, rather than trying to cheat and pull everything. Now he's just waiting back that extra split-second and hitting 100 mph rockets to center/right-center, and he isn't rolling over on the ball much anymore.

No bet - that's my expectation (unfortunately).

I'd actually take that bet. I don't think that he wants to stack that many right-handed hitters at the top of the lineup, even though it doesn't really matter given that our righties hit righties just fine.

And if you're fine with an all-R upper part of the lineup, there's really little reason not to go Springer/Bichette/Vlad/Teoscar/Gurriel.

As one does.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
