Boston, Detroit and Cleveland are all going to end up with a 1B that doesnt hit 30 home runs.

Ortiz and Hafner are clearing having down years and are usually good for a lot more. Overbay has never been an above-average source of power at 1st. And the Tigers have had the best offense outside NY this year, so they can afford Sean Casey.

That may be the most incorrect thing I've read in awhile. Take it from this Cubs fan, Barrett is an awful game caller. It's the sole reason he was dealt. Every pitcher complained about him, he only stuck around so long because of his offense. The Cubs went with .150 hitting Koyie Hill for weeks instead of Barrett. I wouldn't make him a FA target.

oops....I think I meant gamer....came out wrong....but still...those things can be worked on. The Jays ahve one of the best game callers on the bench in Ernie Whitt, and if Zaun sticks around....he can learn from him too.

Oh yeah. My bad. Well, Kevin Youkilis is still sexy because of his walks. He's a slightly poor man's Derrek Lee.

Yeah, they're all cut from the same cloth... Hit for average, get walks, get doubles, etc. Though they don't hit 30+ homers, they get more doubles than the average player. My point was that historically it's been a 30/100 position, due to the minimal range needed to play the position, you could just stick mashers there. Good points though. You don't necessarily need it to compete.

jays really should have traded someone from their bullpen.... a combination of tallet/downs and jannsen would of been able to get a real nice return... trading some other vets (glaus) for prospects probably isn't gonna happen, since the jays are trying to field a competitive team and get fans to show up (it is a business)

adding speed would be nice... being able to manufacture runs when the bats are cold, and even when the bats are going good, speed can distract the pitcher and maybe the batter gets a good pitch to swing at

macdonald's a good reserve, but he probably won't hit .270 again next yr, so the jays need to upgraded at ss.. also at c and their prospects in general... fire jp and gibbons

atleast marcum, mcgowan, accardo, jannsen stepped it up this yr... i think jp did go with high-ceiling type prospects in the last draft and did get snyder the yr before

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
