It's not like Kirk is a homerun threat either.

Edit:: more of a singles threat.... LOL .. could have used that in the 7th...

Myles Straw hitting with the game on the line, gotta love it

Would have been a perfect option to hit in the 7th yeah but high performance department said he couldn’t catch today probably and Schneider has to follow that

So, we've split 6 games with the the ChiSox.

Vlad is a hazelnut.

Painfully stupid and unnecessary loss in so many ways that needlessly ended the streak.

Thanks for that--Vlad, front office, and manager. Unserious to the end.

If you want to know why this team has never reached their ceiling over the last few years, then look no further than Vladdy. Atkins has built 89+ win teams in 3 of the last 4 seasons, and possibly 4 of the last 5 if this season pans out, and it would be in spite of Vlad.

Just something to note--if Springer had pinch hit for him in the 7th (as literally any normal team in the league would have done), Straw doesn't hit in either the 7th or the 9th in two of the biggest spots of the game.

I can’t imagine how demoralizing it would be as a player to know that your team has hitched its wagon to Guerrero Jr. It wouldn’t inspire me with any confidence. There’s really not much there there.

The other players seem to love him so I don't think they are that demoralized at the moment.

Decent argument that he's the most overrated athlete in Toronto sports history.

Anyway, this streak may get us into the postseason this year barring some kind of collapse in the 2nd half. But based on history we all know how it ends once we get there...with the front office puppet pulling a dominating starter after 3 innings and Vlad making some ridiculous mistake on the field or on the basepaths.

Especially with the day off tomorrow anyways, it made no sense not to go to Springer earlier with men on base.

No killer instinct whatsoever in this management. Much like how Charlie Montoyo used to throw games away for no reason, we are now throwing games away because why not, we already won 10 straight!

If Springer was allowed to hit today by the high performance department, yeah you should probably optimize those ABs in the biggest spots of the game instead of throwing him out there with nobody on against Grant Taylor.

The Jays will be spending the next 15 years working around Vlad’s money to build a quality team. It’s very frustrating. Rogers gave him $500M to be a mascot for a decade and a half. If the Jays looked like this last season, I wonder if Rogers would have insisted on this contract. Since they were coming off a last place finish, Ed panicked.

That wasn't Charlie Montoyo then and it wasn't John Schneider now (although they're both bad managers). This front office won't divert from their processes for anything, even while a 10 game win streak is going on. It's one of the reasons why I've always had a problem with them.

If there was ever a time not to put a throwaway lineup and bench three of your best players going into an off day, now was the time. These kind of lucky streaks can carry you all season and you want to preserve that momentum as long as possible. We have enough evidence now to know that the Jays front office doesn't believe in that sort of thing though.

And the team’s potential will forever be topped out at the level of Vlad’s brain. Ed put all of his money in that basket.

Is there any other organization in baseball history that benches 3 of their 6 best players going into an off day during a 10 game win streak simply because they had some pre-set high performance rest plan in place a month ago?

I think the Shapiro and Atkins Jays are the lone exception here.

On a day when they're throwing their 5th starter?? (who, mind you, has been great)

I don't think Vlad's contract is immovable. Devers being traded in year 2 of a 10 year deal shows that anyone can be traded. So I'm not too worried about that. But what sucks is that this contract essentially removes any accountability from Vlad. We should've made him perform this season before paying him at the end of the season. No one would've paid more anyways.

I don't know if Vladdys swing is broken or he's just underperforming. He barely barrels the ball anymore, he used to mash the crap out of balls consistently even when he wasn't hitting well but now he looks bad trying to hit balls in the middle of the plate. I'm still think he has it in him but he needs to figure it out because if Jay's don't go far he will be the reason why.
