I'm not sure I've seen a player that wavers quite like Jackie Bradley Jr. He's either Las Vegas sidewalk in the middle of a July day hot, or Winnipeg in the middle of February cold.

Billy Butler and Danny Valencia, teammates on the A’s, recently got into a fight in the clubhouse. This fight was legitimate, not just some pushing and shoving, as Butler is now on the seven-day concussion disabled list after getting punched in the head by Valencia. It got a little weirder late Sunday night when Coco Crisp, Eric Hosmer, and Yonder Alonso — two of the three teammates of Valencia and Butler — backed Valencia in this altercation. The strangest part is the most recent, though, as Susan Slusser reported what caused this fight in the first place.

Butler apparently tried to get one of Valencia’s endorsement deals taken away. When an equipment representative asked Valencia if he used his off-brand cleats during games, and Valencia said only during workouts, Butler chimed in to say Valencia was lying, and even allegedly said the rep’s company should drop Valencia. You can guess how Valencia took that, and when he confronted Butler about it, Butler reportedly said, "I can say whatever I want, and your bitch ass isn’t going to do anything about it."

Valencia did do something about it, considering Butler is now on the DL with a concussion sustained from getting clocked.

Obviously this friction was there for a long time before the incident. What a complete dick move by Butler.

Archer could be a 20 game loser this year... already had 17.

I was ready to recite a useless piece of trivia that the last to do it was Brian Kingman with the A's around 1980.... and then I decided to double check and saw that Mike Maroth did it in 2003. I totally forgot that, and also seemed to forget how truly bad the Tigers were that year. I remember them being bad but not 43-119 bad.

It's a huge bummer seeing the Yankees rebuilding so fast with a second homegrown Core Four in Sanchez, Bird, Judge, and Severino plus three MORE top flight prospects they stole at the deadline. And that's not even touching all the money they'll have to spend.

Then there's the Red Sox and their graduated top prospects with another handful of top 50 ones on the way. FML.

Enjoy this run we're on while it lasts.

Tonight's HR makes 11 in his first 23 games for Gary Sanchez, which breaks George Scott and Trevor Story's record.

Cheering for the Royals feels dirty but it has to be done

Royals were down 4-2 in the 6th. Then Matt Barnes came in the game, threw something like 15 pitches, and gave up 6 runs...

Weird ranking of the Red Sox? Especially with Andrew Benintendi injury. I guess if you use run differential you can put them ahead of us. And Nationals +135 is not worth the same in AL East. Still all the other power rankings have them 5 or lower.

Dodgers and Giants have identical run differentials right now. They've both scored 586 runs and allowed 524.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I read that the last two Yankees to come out of the gate with impressive HR streaks were Kevin Maas and Shane Spencer, neither of whom amounted to much after their hot streak was over and pitchers figured them out. Sanchez had 10 HR's in 313 minor league AB's this season which shows good but not out-of-this-world power. The biggest question is can he play Catcher full time as that will make him infinitely more valuable.

From a lot of articles I've read and many of the broadcasts I've watched/listened to many are already giving Mookie Betts the AL MVP.

but wait for it...

Josh Donaldson .294/.407/.582/.415 wRC+163 and 7.0 WAR
Mookie Betts .322/.361/.566/.389 wRC+ 142 and 6.7 WAR

Crazy thing is JD's slash line this year is better than his slash line last year.

I've got Betts WaR at 7.6. Altuve at 7.3 and JD at 7.0

Ive read/heard about more people picking Altuve then any of them. Machado has also been great.

Fan graphs has JD at 7.0 WAR while Betts and Altuve are both sitting at 6.7 WAR.

Jose Altuve and JD are both right there. At this point Altuve is slashing .354/.414/.569/.411 wRC+ 164 / 6.7 WAR. Don't think Altuve will get much consideration IF Houston doesn't make the playoffs

Machado is playing well but his line puts him behind the other 3 .306/.358/.560/.382 wRC+ 139/ 5.9 WAR

My WAR numbers are from baseball reference. Not sure what the difference is?
