Much more skeptical about that but at least they are winning for now.

I read earlier today that Dusty Baker planned to play all his starters against Tampa this weekend to maintain the "integrity of the game." We've still got a shot here.

Schneider says that was probably Mayza's "best spot" to come in for the 7th inning there. Wow.

Yeah. Botching the throw was unfortunate. But then standing there feeling sorry for himself instead of moving to cover home was just unforgivable.

Yankees dressed Judge and a bunch of subs and it wasn't even close. And what was Schneider thinking bringing in Mayza to face the best hitter in baseball?? It should have been Garcia.

So many mental lapses and mistakes this season. It's costing this team and it needs to be addressed in the off-season.

This team is still years away from contenting for anything. This season has proved how immature they are and most importantly how unprofessional their attitudes are towards the game. You cant have that kind of mentality and hope to win anything. Getting swept in the first round (if they even get past the wild card series) will be a welcome eye opening experience for these guys.

Nice, the Rays choked at the same time we did.

With a pitching staff that consists of more than 3 MLB-calibre players and another year for our hitters to mature, and I think we're ready.

The problem will be finding MLB-calibre pitching after we blew our payroll on Kikuchi and Berrios.

Ryu too (although I'm sure he'd still have value if healthy). They're paying the 3 of them combined about $45M next year which means we'll likely see both Berrios and Kikuchi at least start the year in the rotation.

Unfortunately, that's the problem with attempting to make the step from talented young team to real contender: in modern baseball you basically cannot trust any player over 30, and even some in their late 20s, but those will be the players available as you try to fill out your roster. Our draft and development has been very good in general, but because it has been weighted toward position players (Manoah aside) we've had to rely on free agency and trade for the rotation, and it's an expensive minefield out there.

The good news is that our 2023 payroll is relatively manageable, although we aren't likely to have much money once arb raises are doled out. The bad news is that things are going to get pretty tricky thereafter even with Ryu off the books.

IF the Jays decided to keep the ball.Would have sparked a Yankees/Red Sox type rivalry?

Judge is a likeable player. **** the Yankees. Trash organization. But I'd still give him the ball because you don't get to choose who drafts you.

It's also just incredibly petty. It wouldn't spark a rivalry, it would lead the rest of baseball to think that we were petulant twerps.

Just a general respect thing between athletes like if the situation was reversed everyone would want the ball back. Wouldnt be anomosity just a wow what a dick sorta thing. It's different if it's a fan tho cause I'm keeping that till the Yankees pay me 6 figures lmao

i don't know man. Yankees are really a world class organization, all things considered.

Yankees #1 valuation
Value: $6 billion
One-Year Change: 14%
Owner: Steinbrenner family
Revenue: $482 M
Operating Loss: $40 million

Jays #14 valuation
Value: $1.78 billion
One-Year Change: 6%
Owner: Rogers Communications
Revenue: $238 M
Operating Loss: $52 million

all these numbers are reported by Forbes for 2022

Oh, definitely. I have no qualms with a fan getting their mortgage paid off by a guy who is about to get more than a quarter billion (or an organization that is worth 25 times that). But the Blue Jays holding the ball hostage in order to spark a rivalry has serious little brother energy and I'm glad they didn't do it.
