some talk about buying or selling nowadays
do you guys think we should sell at the deadline? selling high on Whit, Chapman, Kiermeier, Belt?

I haven't heard any of this, but I'm mostly plugged into Rogers' media coverage. Was any of these weight and conditioning issues discussed in the media prior to now?

They will be buying. We are currently in a wild card spot and failure to make the playoffs will likely mean the end of Shatkins. Almost makes me hope for failure.

Wouldn’t it be crazy that we get Ryu back for the end of season to fill in as the #5. I think that’s what the jays are hoping for in all likelihood Manoah doesn’t look like an MLB pitcher at the moment.

I could see them trying Alek out of the bullpen if Ryu makes it all the way back. Obv just for the remainder of this season.
Other big news is that Chad Green is getting close.

Good news I didn’t like to see everyone beating the kid while he was down.

Do teams ever adjust their rotation based on the scheduled home plate umpire?

This really feels like setting him up for failure. The whole point of sending him down was to give Manoah the time and space to work things out deliberately and carefully.
This doesn't feel like that at all. I hope I'm wrong.

Bahahaha.
One decent start in AA and they bring him back like nothing happened. Good luck with that, Jays.

I’m guessing they see Detroit as a confidence boosting opportunity. But I agree it is risky.

I do not understand what the rush was to bring Manoah back up after one Double AA start? The start before his last one, Manoah got crushed by a bunch of 18/19 year old kids. He should had a couple of Triple AAA starts before being called up. Again, this organization is setting Manoah up for failure if his start Friday goes terrible. What a premature and a bad decision, but not a surprise with the clowns we have as our coaches and in our front office.

Depends what they did with him down there I guess.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread pt. 2
Seems like the rumour that he’d back back for Canada were true. That first start where he got roughed up changed those plans.
There’s no point handling him with kid gloves onto Friday.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread pt. 2
While I don't agree with it, The jays are hoping to see if they can count on Alek like for this season. If he sucks gets blown up again, they know they'll likely need pitching at the trade deadline, and will prioritize that even more (Starting pitching vs. getting a good reliver) as you know we don't have many prospects laying around. They'll need to find that answer out in the next 2-3 starts, having him in minors, you wouldn't know that answer. This is why the timing was always around the allstar break, as this is when trade discussions start becoming serious, and is the unofficial 2nd half the season and it gives them 3-4 starts to evaluate if they need additional starting pitching, relief pitching, positional player, etc. .
Personally I would have waited till after the allstar game, that would have meant Alek could have another start or two in Double A or Triple A (as their allstar break isn't occurring soon) then brought up him after the break to see above.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread pt. 2
We can always have Ryu start and let Manoah pitch as a reliever for this season. Or stack him with Trevor Richards/Ryu
