Chapman going 0-4 with 4ks. SMH..

Talk about being inconsistent! I love his defense, but he is such a frustrating player to watch at the plate at times especially when he's not hitting.

He's hitting .315/.402/.697 over the past 25 games. The nature of baseball, especially in the modern era, is that players have bad games. Mike Trout struck out in seven consecutive plate appearances over two games in July. Relax.

Not really a complaint about this specific post but people always complain about the offense. It's super weird to me top 3 in OPS and leading the league in BA. Like other than Bos struggles not sure what more people want lol

Because we're 'inconsistent'. For what it's worth:

Times shut out: Jays - 4, Yankees - 7.
Held to 1 run or less: Jays - 14, Yankees - 16.
Held to 2 runs or less: Jays - 27. Yankees - 30.

The Yankees' offense is more inconsistent than ours. They strike out more (we again have one of the lowest K rates in baseball), but they also hit more home runs. And their offense is demonstrably better, because an offense that sometimes scores 1-2 runs and frequently scores 8+ is actually really good.

Both Kirk and Chapman are actually a mess at the plate right now though.

84 pitches only. He should be starting the 7th. But our manager does inexplicable things.

So maybe Montoyo wasn't making the decisions when to pull or they all thinking the same way.

In fairness, we've barely used our bullpen this series, so they probably just needed the work. /s :nonono:

It's worth noting that Gausman was treated similarly by the Giants. He only threw 100 pitches 5 times in 2021. He has averaged about 90 pitches/appearance ever since becoming good.

Is the catcher allowed to block home plate like that?

No idea why we sent him with the top of the order up. Awful choice wasn't deep enough at all.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
