Well, we're mostly of the way through this ridiculous meatgrinder of a stretch where we play 18 games in 17 days, and we're 10-3. Playoffs are nearly guaranteed...nice to wrap things up early to get the chance to set our rotation and get some players rested.

20 games left, 3 of those against the Yankees. We're 5.5 games back now for first. It's improbable we'll catch them, but stranger things have happened. May as well make it interesting...

Catching the Yankees would be nice, but if we aren't much close in a few days (and it's a huge gap realistically), aggressively resting players to aim for sixth is really tempting. Cleveland/New York is so much easier of a path than Tampa/Houston.

They won't do anything like that until they've clinched (which is still aways away). The hope would be that the last week doesn't matter and they can set up the rotation the way they want it for Cleveland/Seattle.

Thanks to Bo figuring out his ****,he can bat anywhere in the lineup now,but he belongs near the top of it.Vladdy is not a number 2 hitter.3 is better or 4 for him.More rbi chances,and fear from opposing pitchers to have to pitch to him,then Vladdy has more control/power etc...

Okay, so somebody who understands pitching mechanics better than I do, help me out.

Bass threw 1 pitch today. Romano threw 3. Does that essentially burn them between warming up and throwing, or can today kinda be discounted when looking at their workload and readiness?

They should both be able to pitch,but they wont be the first option-imo.

Romano will definitely be the first option if he’s needed. They might prefer to avoid pitching him the day after, tho. But I’m guessing they would use him then, too, if needed.

Oh, definitely. But I'm not going to be too fussed about the occasional loss in the next 10 days, because they're as likely to help us as hurt us.

Good thing they only threw 4 pitches combined.

Even throwing 4 pitches, he'd have thrown quite a few more in warm-ups which is a large part of the reason pitchers throwing three in a row is rare.

But we also really don't have any need to thrash his arm. We're almost definitely going to make the playoffs; we're almost definitely not going to win the division. Romano's pretty important and we don't have any need to push him. We have Bass, Yimi and Mayza for late-innings tomorrow, plus possibly Cimber and a number of other arms available for earlier innings.
