I've seen dribbles of info suggesting the team is generally satisfied with his progress. Obviously issues to work through, but the high ERA of 6.22 is not overly concerning yet.

I've sensed a bit of consolidation in Kloff's last two starts. More steady, less volatile. Made it through six innings last night, 3R, 3H, 1BB, 7K. On the right track IMO.

Another intriguing start at NH by Luis Quinones. 8IP, 0R, 3H, 3BB, 3K. A very late pick in 2017. Lost the Covid summer, had an 80 game suspension for performancing enhancing drugs, he's 24 now and probably profiles as a reliever. Prone to wildness, but seems to be settling down. Has a healthy K rate - 100 K in 61 innings.

And another Latin prospect. Adrien Hernandez is now the closer, it seems, at NH. This is his third level of this season. Another guy with a very healthy K rate

I see that the legend of Julian Merryweather made an appearance in the FCL last night. His setback mustn’t have been too serious. He faced four batters, striking out one. I swear that every time I read about one of his injuries I feel like Batman is never coming back to Gotham. Not bad for an almost 30 year old who has pitched a grand total of seventeen innings in the bigs.

While the Berrios trade may never be a win, I think we will look back and say that we kept the better overall infield prospect. Groshans has been really solid.

Although a little older and less of a prospect, another hot bat at NH fight now is Chavez Young. If he ever could hit MLB pitching, he'd be the perfect utility outfielder - a natural CF, tremendous athlete, great speed, powerful arm, all on display here, as he makes a diving catch and turns it into a DP.

Future stars? Projecting top prospects in '23 - MLB.com

Blue Jays: Orelvis Martinez, SS/3B (No. 3/MLB No. 48)

Martinez has been pegged as a potential future No. 1 prospect for the Blue Jays since he signed for $3.5 million back in July 2018, and he’s backed that up with his performance in his first full season. The 19-year-old infielder’s carrying tool remains his power with 24 homers in 90 games between Low-A and High-A this season, and that could grow even more by 2023 as he continues to grow accustomed to more experienced pitching.

Hottest hitters in each MLB farm system - MLB.com

Blue Jays: Rikelbin De Castro, SS (No. 15)

Signed for $1.2 million out of the Dominican Republic in July 2019, De Castro is finally getting his first taste of the pros this summer, and he's ending on a strong note. He owns a .432/.553/.676 line with six extra-base hits and a near-even 9/8 K/BB ratio over his last 12 games with the Blue Jays’ Florida Complex League affiliate. De Castro earns his best grades on the defensive side, but his quick swing gives him the potential to be above-average with his hit tool as well.

File this in the might not amount to anything folder, but it's worth acknowledging what Spencer Horwitz is doing with Vancouver. Last night, he tied a 59-year-old record for the league's longest hitting streaks: 26 games. Horwitz is a 23 year old left hand hitting 1B, who has done well at two levels, with a low K rate - more walks, actually, than Ks. Might be a nice throw in in an off-season trade this winter or next.

Update Sept 9 - Horwitz was 2-4 tonight, so he now holds the record.
https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2021/sep/09/philip-clarke-spencer-horwitz-pace-vancouver-over-/

Horwitz is hitting .440 (48 for 109) with seven home runs and 32 RBIs during the streak.

Baseball America has their new top 100 out this morning. Gabriel Moreno appears at 8. Nate Pearson, Jordan Groshans, and Orelvis Martinez are also on the list.

The Fisher Cats will resume their schedule tomorrow after being sidelines with Covid. I didn't see details about how many players were affected.

A number of reinforcements are coming from Buffalo and Vancouver, including Spencer Horwitz.

Trent Palmer threw his second 7 inning no hitter in a month for Dunedin. Third round pick last year.

Thanks, I like taking a deeper dive beyond the sure-fire prospects. Lots of intrigue in the farm system, and it's always fun to latch on to the long shots incase one becomes a legit MLB prospect or at least an interesting candidate to add to a trade package. I don't go entirely by the bottom half of MLB Pipeline, I find their adjustments aren't timely enough. For example, Palmer isn't yet in the top 30 Jays' prospects, but based on his performance, and the fact his pre-draft scouting report got him into the third round, he probably should be, or will be soon. At Buffalo, I'm particularly interested in Kyle Johnson's development as a potential one-inning guy next season. He was the pitcher the Jays got in the Daniel Hudson trade, failed as a starter and has just been turned into a reliever; flourished in NH, and recently promoted to Buffalo. These are the off-the-radar stuff for this thread that I enjoy monitoring.

Anyway, here's a story on Palmer's second short-game no-no.

It's a wrap for all of our minor league teams except Buffalo which moves on to play Lehigh Valley in the AAA playoffs. One final note on the final day: My unicorn, Spencer Horwitz, went 2-4 (double, homer) with New Hampshire and finished his one week promotion with a .375 average. He ought to start at NH next season, and it will be interesting to see if the organization plays him more in the outfield where he has played some, since we don't need a 1B at the major league level.
