It is not a coincidence this team is playing its best baseball with Santander out. He was probably one of the worst everyday players in MLB (.179 BA, .577 OPS, .273 On Base, .304 SLG) along with being a -0.9 WAR for the year. Give him a few games to see what he does when he is healthy when coming back.

If he continues to be the same guy we have all seen since the beginning of the year and struggling at the plate, he can then be the highest paid bench player in MLB. Cannot afford to have him in the lineup on a regular basis, despite his big contract. He can just come off the bench when needed, since others have produced significantly more than him this year.

That 99MPH fastball going away to end the game was NASTY!!

If Hoffman continues to struggle and gives up runs, I would definitely have him close out games for us.

It is about winning games at the end of the day. Yariel should definitely be the Closer going forward if Hoffman continues to look like the Hoffman from the terrible month of May, and not like the Elite guy we all saw from April.

I'm inclined to believe former pro's who have told me moves like that come form upstairs. The Kevin Youkillis tweet is also right there for you.

I'm sure many moves are directed from upstairs (often in the form of pre-game planned meetings). I just don't think using Chad Green in that spot for Fluharty is one of them.

It's insane that a guy as smart as you believes John or any manager makes decisions. I've spoke to 2 former mlb players so i'm not going to argue it further i know who runs the show.
