That's an awful lot of money for someone who hasn't been so good at baseball in recent years. Keuchel has been good for 2.5 fWAR/180 over the last four years...also good for 2.5 fWAR/180 over the same timeframe? Tanner Roark.

The three months David Price spent with the Blue Jays in 2015 were among the most enjoyable of his career. The Jays are in a different place now, with a different front office. Price, 34, is more expensive and less durable. But he again might prove a solution for Toronto, which is exploring all avenues to improve its starting pitching.

The signing of free-agent left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu remains one possibility for the Jays, but the team also is talking to the Red Sox about a trade for Price, according to major-league sources. A deal only will come to fruition if the clubs agree on how much the Red Sox will pay of the $96 million remaining in the final three years of Price’s contract. Such an agreement is not close at this time, and the Red Sox are talking to other clubs about Price and examining different options as well, sources said.

In possible trades of Price and Eovaldi, the Sox are looking at a sliding scale – the more money they include, the better the package they will receive. They also can attach talent to one or both of the pitchers to make them more attractive, and perhaps reduce the amount of cash in the deal.

Red Sox have been pretty quiet, they will be over the luxury tax and have to re-sign a few players in arbitration. I'd also be interested in Erod.

Now that's pretty interesting. Price isn't an ace anymore nor close to it, and I wouldn't count on him getting better. But there's a price point at which he's worth bringing back, especially if he costs next to nothing in talent.

If I’m the jays I tell the Sox we want price and a good prospect and I’d eat some significant salary depending on the prospects quality. I’d send them a c level prospect back

This is a chance for them to flex some of their financial muscle. We should eat all but the last years salary (making it more palatable to cut/trade him in the third year).

Damn wanted EE I'd still sign him and get rid of Tellez and Drury to make it work but Atkins loves his scrubs so that won't happen.

I'd pass on Price let them suffer unless we are getting a top notch player back with him which won't happen so yeah ...

Honestly, they'd probably do Benintendi + Price's full deal for not much without hesitation. Benintendi seems to have fallen out of favour a bit after a down 2019, and the pair of them weren't worth much more than their combined contracts will pay in 2020.

The other thing I've seen floated by Sox fans would be something structured around Price for Grichuk. Would offset $44m of the $96m owed to Price, which might be more palatable for them than simply eating tens of millions.

wow... I had my doubts, but Shatkins has proved me wrong. We can all eat our words now.

Jays got Ryu signed to 4 yr $80M deal.

Keep Thornton and Shun as a long deliver

Shop waguespack and borucki for outfield help. Pearson will be up soon.

Did not expect the Jays to get Ryu but, I have been proven wrong lol. Like the singing as Ryu will be a big help to that main rotation. The roster is looking not so bad ( maybe a chance to fight for a wild card spot ). BTW Is Shoemaker a free agent ?
