Yea it did look like Manoah was turning a corner before he went down with that injury. Hopefully the break allowed him to mentally relax and he comes back on the right track. I doubt he'll make much of an impact this year, but if him and Ricky can come into spring training next year as legit contenders for spots, it would let us have cheap replacements for the current starters and allocate payroll to offence.

For this team to be competitive in the medium term they’ll need a couple of good, cheap pitchers.
At least 2 out of Manoah, Tiedemann, Yesavage, Bloss, Rodriguez will need to be reliable starters in 2026

Is it too early to wonder if Bowden Francis was a mirage last season?

Re: Official Blue Jays 2025 Spring Training Thread
Interesting tell on Alan Roden, they have started playing him in CF. He already plays the corners, so I wonder if playing him in CF is another way to decide whether he makes the opening day roster.
Update : Roden singles in the first run of today's game. He is this spring's Ernie Clement story and the only way they send him to Buffalo is because they are overly concerned with how it might look to send out someone else. It's hard to see how more time in Buffalo would help Roden.

I’d be shocked at this point if Roden isn’t on the opening day roster, in fact I think there’s a decent chance he is a starter over Loperfido.
Don’t know about the CF thing, Straw can do the job for 1-2 weeks, no need to put added pressure on Roden

Who is the Jays #4 Hitter?
Assuming the lineup is BO/Vlad/Santander? Like the lineup gets awfully "Quiet" if we are putting springer/Gimenez /Varsho as our #4 hitter.

For now, I can see leadoff being rotated around, but if Roden gets comfortable fast, he has a good profile as a leadoff hitter, high OBP with a bit of power and speed. He as brought up through the minors as a leadoff hitter, so by June at the latest, I wouldn't be shocked if they go with him followed by Bo, Vlad, Santander and Varsho if it's a right handed pitcher.

But even if it's a rotation, we have 3 hitters that opposing pitchers would gameplan in "Detail" Around, then after that, it drop off. I also like Roden, but it's asking a lot for a rookie to be your "4th best hitter".
