Can't believe Fluharty got Ohtani to chase.

What are we talking about? No. Not every manager has Hoffman back in the 9th after demonstrating he had 0 feel for the strike zone. Not having anyone ready after he walked the first batter of the inning is amateur hour.

No question that every manager in the league puts him back out there over Fluharty and Nance yeah

Lol okay

We all saw ths same thing. A manager who knows his guy sees that his "closer" can't throw a strike there.

Inevitably ended up with Fluharty closing the door.

Walking 2 of the best hitters in the league the previous inning and getting an out isn’t gonna be enough to make any manager in the league not use Jeff Hoffman over Fluharty or Nance yeah

The mistake was not having someone in immediately after the first walk in the 9th

Almost every manager (or all) would have come back with Hoffman. But most would have pulled the trigger at least a batter earlier in the ninth.... possibly two.

Seriously.

But the season’s story continues with unheralded role players making their mark

Just logged in to say Jeff Hoffman needs to go. That is all.

I would say Lauer only going 3 and the entire bullpen getting used was a larger issue.

The loss is on Hoffman he’s a choker you paid him trustee him to be your closer and in big games against big competition he completely flops. We expect this guy to win us games in the playoffs? Stop blaming Schneider the players play

lol you're acting like it's an easy situation to go in facing Will Smith and Freddie Freeman.

That's it for Hoffman as a closer. Rodriguez is the guy now better stuff than Hoffman

Anyone who remembers the Montoyo/Chatwood incident knows it could always have been a worse later trigger too though

I’d still say his worst most inexplicable move today was the PH decision of Straw

The mistake was not having someone in immediately after the first walk in the 9th

The mistake was bringing Hoffman back out in the ninth.

In retrospect yeah

But no manager is going to Fluharty over Hoffman to start that inning in any reality

Hoffman had 5 walks alone today, he had 11 walks the entire season prior to today. I guess we can overreact or just chalk it up to an anomaly outing.

The 3 year, $33,000,000 contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, including $5,000,000 signing bonus, looks like a huge mistake now

Yeah anomaly, facing a potential World Series contender in a pennant race. The anomaly is called choking. Unclutch

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
