All this unnecessary hype surrounding max scherzer is not a good sign. Expect him to give up like 5 runs in the first inning.

He will get cooked and be out of the game very early

Also signing Hoffman after three teams passed on him and had their doubts, was not the right course of action looking back.

Our BP would be much better if Burr, Garcia and Sandlin were healthy.

Ryan Burr was pretty mediocre last year and not really good. He just pitched two innings this year. Sandlin also was nothing special the last two years in Cleveland. Hard to judge Sandlin this year since he was so injury prone, even if he looked good at times. I am not even factoring both of these guys, since to me they are nothing special and could be easily replaced.

Garcia was the only impactful arm missing, but this front office went out and acquired Dominguez to essentially replace him since he is a free agent. I would actually let go of Little, Sandlin, Burr, Dominguez, Nance and Bruihl in the off-season and go in a different direction for 2026. Emphasize getting Strike Throwers with Velocity and Command, and less guys like Little and Dominguez who are prone to walking people and have control issues.

Get another Closer (move Hoffman to a 7th/8th Inning Setup man where he excelled in Philadelphia). Get another high leverage Lefty to replace Little. Get another solid bullpen arm also to replace what a guy like Sandlin was supposed to provide. Three Bullpen arms at a minimum is what needed for 2026 (with emphasis on Strike Throwers with Velocity and Command). It will cost money, and luckily this team will have payroll flexibility to get those pieces to revamp this bullpen.

They got mayza, pop, bass and many others, as well..They never came close to fixing the bullpen..cost us the playoffs when we had the best team with semien...riyu was so bad and the bullpen was worse..so many blown saves and missed playoffs by 1 game..remember white, anyone?

lol you're advocating getting rid of guys under team control and cheap to sign relievers in FA to replace them all?

Team control and cheap is irrelevant if you cannot count on guys to deliver the goods. This bullpen needs a severe upgrade for 2026. You still got to spend money wisely though.

Unfortunately, Atkins did not take notes when the Braves, Orioles, and Phillies all passed on signing Hoffman when he was looking to be a full-time Closer on a multi-year deal. That was not money spent wisely on a guy who never was a full-time Closer previously.

My guess is Max will pitch the first 3 innings if he gets there, but with the shortest leash. We still got Bassitt and Lauer

If he can get to the 4th and allow 2-3 runs only that's a win. I think he can do it.

Hopefully Max can have a good start. Maybe he's just old and needed some rest. Well, he hasn't pitched in almost a month so he should be refreshed now.

So you want us to spend like 50m this offseason on relievers?

A little worried about Castillo. The guy is a total beast. Their true ace. His sliders are filthy, need to stay away from that.
It's going to be difficult to lay off or foul off those pitches, almost unhitable, just ask Vlad ...

The Jays this year have had a tendency to play up (or down) to the level of their opposition. Ace starter on full rest? We got this. Fifth starter on short rest? What is hitting?

Max knows this could be his last start in the playoffs for his career. Let's see if he can deliver just an acceptable start. Obviously 1st inning is key.

PEDs should be allowed after a certain age in sports....after 35 seems fair....after 40 is a no brainer.

Lebron would second that
