Judge has been injured the past 3 weeks, since June 3rd with a torn ligament in his toe. No definite timeline on when he returns.

Why is the AL East just that much better then the AL Central?

is the increased amount of games outside the division a good thing for baseball? Will they fix it?

Generally better management and higher payrolls (for some).

Well a more balanced schedule is very good for the Jays. Only thing that's keeping them in the playoff race this year (and would have gotten them to the playoffs on many other occasions over the past few decades), so I hope they don't.

Good bounce back win after last night’s debacle.

Much needed win. Still waiting on Varsho to break out. Love his defense but man does his hitting suck! Hopefully he proves me and others wrong. I still think we could have got someone better for Moreno.

Varsho's SLG, OPS, OBP, BA up to this point have regressed from last year, and further regressed from 2021. When it seems like he is showing signs of possibly breaking out, he resorts to hitting 2 for his last 19 which he currently is. He has been terrible at the plate this year, and below average in the key hitting metrics. This is Varsho's fourth season, and he is what he has always been, having watched him a few times last year in Arizona.

A very good 5 foot 9/10 defensive player, but a below average hitter with some Pop, who Strikes out a lot. I rather would have just kept Moreno, Gurriel, and signed back another free agent like Bradley Zimmer for late inning defense (who was awful at the plate), if Varsho was just going to be a better version of Zimmer at the plate up to this point. Zimmer was a very good defender, but at 6 foot 4 could also catch some balls in CF, which Varsho's short stature could not catch and went out for home runs in a few games.

I would have held out for a better hitter than Varsho, if I was going to trade my top prospect and an above average hitter like Gurriel. There was no need to rush into this Varsho deal at that time, and it was an overpay the time it was made, like I had mentioned at that time. Fans got fooled by the Rogers Propaganda, and assumed Varsho could be a Mini Mike Trout (which another poster called him the first week), than what he has shown at the plate for the prior 3 years. You will just have to live with his bat, if Varsho could provide excellent defense on a daily basis; just like Ryan Goins provided excellent defense back in the day but was below average at the plate.

No Varsho, Belt, or Jansen in the lineup today. A bit of a head scratcher with the off day tomorrow. Maybe Schneider thinks he can muster enough runs without them, facing the worst team in the league. I do not mind Varsho getting a day off, considering how terrible he has been at the plate, but would have preferred Belt and Jansen to be in the lineup with the off day tomorrow.

Kikuchi has been their 2nd best pitcher as of late.

With the way Kikuchi is pitching, I would be tempted to give him a longer leash and let him go to 90-100 pitches. It would be nice for the key bullpen arms to get a day off, after all the action they have seen the past few weeks.
