Nobody thought Varsho or Kirk were saving this team. Just that they have proven to be major league contributors. We have a 500 million dollar player that has a sub .800 OPS and is 70th in fWAR rn lol also a former all star SS that hasn't hit a HR in almost a calender year. Not to mention all the AAAA players we trot out there on a regular basis. Blaming Kirk and Varsho just doesn't make sense lol

No team is going to give a guy with his plate approach that kind of money if he can’t hit for power. Perhaps the injuries did it but he doesn’t seem to have it anymore.

We unfortunately can’t trade Vlad now because of the worst contract in baseball history but at least Bo will be gone soon.

Varsho did have an absurd catch in center.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Read on Twitter

He remains the best player on this team. Unfortunately, that doesn't speak too well of the team that was put around him.

An actual contender has a guy like him as their 5th or 6th most valuable player, not their 1st.

:D You are pretty blunt about Kirk and his base running (lol). Saw on Twitter the other day how some Cleveland fans were thanking the Jays front office for taking two of the worst contracts off the books in Gimenez and Straw. The defense of Gimenez is very good, but the guy"s bat has been terrible and heading downward since 2022. You do not absorb almost 100 million over five years for Ryan Goins 2.0.

I was hoping this team would have gotten a good quality hitting Second Baseman for the amount Gimenez would be paid, and was not a fan of the trade. You just got to hope now that he can find his form he did for the first two weeks or so of the year. Same with Kirk. Hope he can revert back to his all-star first half of 2022. A lot of "Hope" you are counting on for many of these guys including Santander, Varsho, Bo, Vlad, etc., with a team that is 5th highest in Payroll.

Yeah, we're really missing out on a positionless injured Spencer Horwitz on that one.

ya the subpar team build has been indicative that nothing is working. no matter how much they bring 1 guy in, like Soto, it probably changes nothing about the rest of the team.

I wouldn't mind a defense first team if we actually win a lot of games but we don't. If you're gonna be bad, you'd better drive in runs. We're a subpar team that can't score, the worst combo

Is Yariel for real? Can't hit the strike zone. Almost gives up a two run shot, wild pitch and a balk to bring a run in and nowwwww a solo shot. This games over early

He was trying to hit Bregman there though I’m not sure why.

Anyway, having only 4 healthy major league SPs in your organization in April is an issue. Fire them.

We really went into a season with an injured Max Scherzer as a 5th SP with no actual major league level backup plan (and getting rid of the one depth guy who could even remotely fill that role a day before the season started). On a roster with a 250M payroll.

Fire them.

He’s a minor leaguer who has no business being at this level, don’t blame him.

This is a relatively healthy 250 million dollar team and at its peak it still looks atrocious lmao

The Jays could use some low hanging fruit that Atkins says is an easy get.

How can a team be this bad at hitting for so long? If it wasn't apparent to Rogers by now, although not sure how that's possible, it's definitely time to bring in a new GM to retool the team, this is pathetic.
