Awesome game today. I was at it, and early on you definetely got the notion that mcgowan was on. He was lights out early. Tons of ground ball outs today. He really seemed to have alot of rockies hitters off-balance, and that's no easy thing to do. The Rockies had won 20 of 27 games coming into this series. Great job all around for the jays.
I agree with Michael Bradley's assesment that McGowan has ace poetential. You could always see that from day 1. He's alot Like Brandon League, although league is obviously still largly unproven, and not a starter.
McGowan learned some control and learned how to pitch. He is going to have his ups and downs, as every single person in baseball has... He's basically AJ Burnett. Lights out stuff when he's on, but he's not always on. Hopefully he continue to develop his compsure and killer instinct and he can break free of that comparison and become that much needed consistent arm in the rotation

Now the Jays are at .500 after this win.
BTW....who thought we'd sweep the Rockies, after the Rox swept the Yanks and went 20-7 in their last 27.
We had Towers, Taubenheim and McGowan (after a demoralizing loss) going for us, and we still managed to bang out 25 runs in three games, and hold the opposition to only 14 runs in three games (average of 4.7 runs per game). It's nice to see this offence in full effect. We didn't evne have Glaus today and we hit well.
With Burnett returning soon, Overbay and Johnson after the break and League coming back for 6/7 inning duties, the Jays look prepared for a run.....if they could even string more than 3 wins together
