Re: Around the MLB 2019
On March 11, 2020, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell said that the coronavirus is overhyped: ‘If I get it, I get it’.

Rays’ Blake Snell says coronavirus is overhyped: ‘If I get it, I get it’ - Tampa Bay Times
PORT CHARLOTTE — Pitcher Blake Snell wasn’t sure what to make of the new Major League Baseball-mandated precautions and rules the Rays were operating under for the first time Wednesday.
But he was quite clear he felt too much was being made of the coronavirus, despite the toll of deaths and disruption it has caused.
“I think the media kind of hypes up the coronavirus,” Snell said. "If they want to look out for our health, that’s cool.”
“But I’m not too worried about it. If I get it, I get it. If I don’t, I don’t. Either way it was meant to be.”
The coronavirus has led to thousands of deaths around the world and massive quarantines, plus a major reduction in travel and a long list of cancellations of entertainment events, conventions and games.
Snell, 27, said he understood the need to take some precautions, but indicated some changes, such as the media being kept out of the clubhouse and doing interviews in a tent while keeping a distance of 6 feet, seemed too much.
“I’m not really worried about it, so I don’t get it,” Snell said.

Re: Around the MLB 2019
In fairness to Snell, much prefer that people adapt their opinion to new information rather than doubling down on being wrong. On March 11th, there were barely 1000 confirmed cases and less than 50 deaths in the US. If you followed the news closely from the rest of the world, it was clear where it was heading, but I don't blame a pitcher in the midst of Spring Training for not following the news closely enough to know that Italy had just started an alarming climb.
It's the people who continued to claim that it was just like the flu when it was killing 2k people a day in the US alone that really deserve scorn.

Is he really adapting his opinion to new information, or does he just wanna get like, totally mad PAID, yo? He's 100% going to play once MLBPA comes to an agreement with MLB, regardless of what the pay cut is. Because the alternative is $0. And it's easy to be a tough guy on Twitch and claim you won't play for less, but it's another thing to actually follow through on that decision.

When the VCs are calling your plan cynical and greedy, your plan probably sucks, MLB.

Their are so many angles that hinder the chances of baseball coming back or if it does just being shut down again.

As badly starved as I am for sports, at this point I won't shed a tear if this season simply doesn't happen.

I would personally .. They better stop being goofs and work out a plan before it's too late! Don't think many care about millionaires vs. billionaires fighting during this time.
Thankfully the NHL and NBA seem to be on track at the very least.

Hockey seems like they might try to finish, have no idea on soccer, basketball, football news right now.
Am not sure how many more Blue Jays replays I can watch but politics get in the way of MLB returning.
Just find the nicest field anywhere, the field of dreams for all i care, and have them play baseball. You don't need stands anyways, send a tv crew. Just let me see something I don't remember happening before.

"On track" is probably a bit overoptimistic. They have plans to restart, but the likelihood that the restarts devolve into chaos and stupidity are really quite high.

At least the players and owners seem to be working together to help restart those 2 leagues. MLB, as has been their history, can’t get anyone on the same page to even get things out of the starting gate.
