Suarez is a much better hitter than Crawford, so that wouldn't be a good idea. Garcia just needs to not hang a slider to him with 2 strikes.

Yeah Garcia just didn't execute Crawford is the guy you want and not finishing off with 2 strikes is all on him. Fastball that missed badly up, slider that missed badly up but outside the zone and another slider that missed badly but was in the zone.

Yimi should have gotten him out. We had bichette and vladdy with 1 out and runners on 1st and 3rd and couldn't score a run. The what ifs don't really matter that much at the end. If one of your top bullpen guys can't get the final put against a meh hitter it's on the pitcher

The real issue was Bass pitching at all in this game. He's looked terrible all season, he's had no slider to speak of, and the team has been using him in low leverage for weeks because they can see what he is. How is he even getting into a 3 run lead at all, especially if guys like Pop and Mayza are available? That was asking for a loss and a loss is what they got.

Very reminiscent of the Chatwood nonsense with Montoyo a few years back where the team just threw games away.

Blue Jays still are not hitting like an elite team... 5-20 RISP and 31 men LOB. They had so many opportunities to break the game wide open or win. Despite their record barring a few hitters they are mediocre in this regard... far from the potent offense they are acclaimed to be I have not seen it yet.

They scored 8 runs and could have easily had a lot more. Offense isn't the issue.

Yeah but today they scored 8 runs made tougher by the fact they were down 4 before they even had taken an at bat. The offense I think will be better but I can't hold them accountable today.

Im so done with Bass now, Espinal also booted a routine ground but he's been awful and his savant page is a sea of blue. He was incredible last year barring the playoffs and now I wouldn't care if he got DFA'd

I bet they give him one more month to find it and if he doesn't, he's gone. I would hope this is the last we'll ever see of him in high leverage, but you can't put it past Schneider obviously.

The Rays just choked a big lead against the White Sox, if that makes you all feel better

The Rays just choked a big lead against the White Sox, if that makes you all feel better. Up 9-5 in ninth, gave up seven runs in the bottom of the inning

Does bass have any options?

I'm sure he'll have lots of Japanese teams vying for his services when he gets released.

It was the issue in this game since they had ample opportunities and their expected run total should have been higher.. they finally had a game where their bullpen blew it and the bats did not provide the expected run separation for such bountiful opportunities.. Belt could have gotten a look for Jansen against that righty however despite that they should have added a few more.

Garcia has swing and miss stuff. Suarez would have been the better match up. Not to mention he bats right.

I'm not walking the go ahead run with a much worse hitter to face a better hitter who hits HRs. The problem there was execution, not decision making.

Again you're missing the point. Suarez is a swing and miss guy. You're better off having Garcia face him in that situation. Having Crawford bat was a mistake.

I'm not missing any point. Walking a worse hitter and putting the go ahead run on base to face a better hitter who hits HRs is not the optimal choice there.

If Garcia hangs one of those bad sliders to Suarez, we aren't just talking about a single like with Crawford. We're talking about a 3 run HR.

8 runs should be more than enough runs to win a game like that, especially when you carry a 4 run lead into the 6th. They could and should have scored more, but the offense is the last thing that is an issue on this team right now.

The thing is if we won we'd actually make up some ground on them.
