You need bigger sample sizes. A day ago, Billy McKinney would have been on the bubble, but had three hits against Boston on Monday. Biggio and Alford need a bit more time to establish their credentials for promotion.

Speaking of establishing credentials, Josh Palacios had the walkoff single for New Hampshire tonight. Not a power guy, but he's hitting .333 so far. he's a consistent high .280s hitter or better at every level, good speed and arm, and might score a mid-season promotion to Buffalo. Not one of our top 30 prospects because of the depth of the system, but Jim Callis said recently he would be top 30 in a lot of organizations.

It's definitely a make-or-break season for Teoscar, though that verdict likely won't drop for a couple months. If he cannot make significant strides refining his overall game, he becomes rather expendable. If he's going to hit like he has to date in his career, he'll need to be a better defender, and if this is just his level as a defender, he'll need to be one hell of a hitter.

There is some encouraging stuff early with the bat at least. His BB% is way up and his K% is down a lot too. His contact rates are also a lot better so far. He hits the ball hard when he actually hits it historically so if he just actually hits it more he could become quite a good hitter. All very small sample size of course but good signs.

The buzzkill is the D of course. He was absolutely atrocious statistically last year. Every time I think about the signs offensively I remember how bad he is on the other side. He needs to really hit like you mention or make some major improvements somehow on D. The fact that the minor league reports before he came up said he was a solid defender makes me forever doubt those kind of reports now, lol. He's probably a 1B/DH in all honesty.

Just thinking about it, If Vladdy debuts in Minny, Jays will have better tv numbers than Raptors on Tuesday.

Raptors have much more die hard fans than the Bluejays.

A Raptors playoff game on a non-Leafs night will get upwards of half a million - probably closer to 750,000 fans. The Tuesday Raps game is on the TSN main network. The Blue Jays game is on Sportsnet One, not Sportsnet Ontario which is the main channel here in Ontario that all services carry as basic.

I'm not guaranteeing it or anything. But just based on past experiences, and considering it's the most hyped debut in Jays history, there is a more than 50/50 shot of it happening (especially since the monday debut will be played up in the states as well, Canadians across the nation will naturally tune in on tuesday).

Alejandro Kirk is shredding baseballs in Lansing; 3 for 4 with a HR and double thus far tonight. Now, Lansing is the sort of place people do that, but he's quickly becoming a really interesting prospect. It's worth noting that he's been the primary catcher, while 2017 2nd rounder Hagen Danner is DHing most of the time; have to suspect that we're very interested in whether Kirk can stick behind the plate, because his pro numbers are eye-popping to date.

Groshans also hit his first dinger of the year. Our lower minors doesn't feature the names of the upper minors, but there's some real talent there all of a sudden.

Hagen Danner’s mid 90’s fast ball would’ve been cool to have developing right now instead of him being a primary DH continuing to struggle at the plate. 3 HR’s so far so showing some pop

I just hope Alejandro Kirk's jersey number is 47.

How long do you think until they promote him to New Hampshire?

Dunno. Maybe late June/early July if he absolutely wrecks Dunedin? Pitch count is a factor; he was pulled after 59 tonight, and they're understandably babying him given his injury history/very limited innings over the past couple years.

I would have figured that if pitch count is a factor, if he’s dominating Dunedin, they would want to promote him sooner so those limited innings are against competition that isn’t a cakewalk.

Dunedin's also our farm system HQ, so if they want to keep a close eye on him as they build up his innings, that's probably the optimal locale.

Certainly possible that they push him, but he's going to overpower hitters in AA, too; right now, it seems that the focus is on stretching him out, keeping his mechanics tight and developing his secondary stuff.

Yes, in his previous start he had two clean innings to start, then a rain delay, and that was it for him. There was no issue, just caution.

Cavan Biggio is off to an encouraging start to the season. Even the strike outs are down, so far.
