Strong outing from '13 7th round pick RHP Conner Greene, so also moonlights as an inspiring model/TV commercial actor (seriously).

5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
8 GB outs, 2 FB outs

Conner Greene ended up coming on and doing a nice job in the GCL game. 5 IP and he stuck out 4. Walked the first batter he faced and then balked but only allowed a single the rest of the way.

Edit: little late on the post

I'm somewhat surprised Greene is starting back in the GCL.

I know he didn't have a great showing last year, but not dominating the GCL shouldn't be a reason to have someone repeat it.

A numbers game perhaps?

Or perhaps it was by request so he could continue moonlighting. Gotta believe Bluefield doesn't provide the greatest opportunity for that kind of work.

He missed the boat with City Guys, Hang Time, Saved By the Bell the New Class....this guy fits perfectly into a early to mid 90s, Saturday morning sitcom.

Bluefield - If the coal industry's good enough for Zoolander, then it's good enough for Connor Greene.

Evan Smith came on in relief after Greene and they're both '95 birthdays from the 2013 draft class. Although Smith didn't quite have as much GCL experience as Greene last season.

Chris King ‏@StatsKing 2m
Juan Tejada was impressive today. Good bat speed with a swing that creates loft & backspin. Not to mention he's got very good pop #BlueJays

Chris King ‏@StatsKing 59s
Yeltsin Gudino is raw at the plate (only 17) but he keeps things simple. Very strong showing in the field. Excellent hands & range #BlueJays

Jacob Brentz was haunted by lack of control and command today. Velo was 92-94 topping out at 95 so there is a positive. #BlueJays

At least he still throws hard, I guess...

Really hoping that Yeltsin Gudino makes it. Names like that just don`t come along every day.

Miguel Castro dominating again tonight. If his stuff is as advertised, Vancouver is going to be little more than "throw ball, observe weeping"; he might be in Lansing in time to receive several starts there.

Sanchez in and out of trouble in BUF, gave up three runs, two earned, in five innings; 4 hits, 4 walks, 4 Ks.\

Roemeon Fields has 8 steals in 8 games with Vancouver. Not bad.

Callis suggests something that popped into my mind earlier tonight after Sanchez's mixed performance

Norris is already ahead of Sanchez who is not even a top 5 Blue Jay anymore and nowhere in the top 100 overall. I've always been skeptical of him, if some sucker still believes in his potential please unload him for a 2B. The trends are clear for everyone to see, this will be his 3rd straight year with declining K:BB ratios and his career FIP is probably at like 4 now, that has to matter at some point, it can't all be about build and fastball velocity

In other news, Barretto 3-7 with 2 doubles, a K and an error, that's 5 errors in 10 games.

Norris should definitely be ahead of Sanchez. Sanchez is a whole lot of theoretical awesomeness while Norris is actually being awesome.

Norris could still scuffle as he goes higher obviously but his A+ numbers crush Sanchez's. At this point Sanchez pretty much has no idea where the ball is going when he throws and there is a long long list of guys with great stuff with no control that have done nothing.

I don't expect the organization to deal him either though, although they should probably strongly consider it if his value is still high. They're probably scared he figures out the control somewhere else and makes them look stupid. It's obvious they love the potential there.

Norris is left-handed, throws in the mid-90s, has decent-to-good offspeed offerings, and average-to-above-average control. He's above a good many prospects now, Sanchez included. And we shouldn't trade him; that's a valuable mix.

Yeah, Sanchez is going to drop on a lot of prospect lists with his poor command and declining K rates. At this point, when teams talk trade with the Jays, I'm guessing Norris is the name that comes up most often.

Sanchez is still easily Top 5 in our system and in the Top 100 overall. Step away from the ledge. The stuff is still the same...throwing 94-96 with plus life, curveball that is plus-plus at times, changeup that shows plus action. His stock is "down", but you're talking about a 21 year old that is one adjustment away from flipping a switch...as unlikely as that may seem at this point, the overall package and age still make him a top prospect.

Tyler Matzek's minor league career make Sanchez look like Greg Maddux, and he's somehow found his way into the Rockies rotation this year. Its too early. Call me when Sanchez is 24 and still sending the ball all over the place. Guys with his type of arm talent get much longer leashes, its always been that way.

Pretty neat story, as well; undrafted, unsigned, took up a job as a letter-carrier before latching on with a touring team and getting noticed by a Jays scout.
