Re: Stroman to Mets
I feel like this front office just jizzes over arm strength exclusively way too much.
I remember when we first got Stro that it was the quality of polish on several of his out pitches that our scouts felt was already Major League ready. Feels like this front office doesn’t value that kind of prospect if they aren’t big and throwing consistently close to 100.

Trade seems fine to me.
You get a fringe top 100 guy who is in AAA. And an 18 year old with high upside, who is more than holding his own in a level where most players are much older than him.

Key thing to point out though is that they are upset that their management is buying rather than selling.
They are not upset about the value they gave up, which is all that matters to us.

I guess it because people are rumors out there, people were expecting a top 50 player coming back. Rather than two in guys in the 100 - 200 range.
Going from Garcia (Rumored ask) - ranked 66th in top 100, and #1 prospect on the yankees farm system, a far better one than Mets, and potenitally Florial or Abrue, i guess expectations were, we would be getting a much better prospect haul.

It depends, for some posters it is both. But yeah apparently most baseball “experts” think that the Mets won this deal. They think that the return for Stroman was pretty light.

Re: Stroman to Mets
We got the Mets top two pitching prospects. We probably could have got a higher ranked positional player but we NEED pitching prospects. We have no idea what other teams were offering but it was probably a pitching prospect + position prospect. The mindset was probably taking two lesser ranked pitching prospects (one almost in the top 100 and one that is coming up quickly) is better than getting one guy who is probably in the upper-half of the top 100.

Possibly contributing to Kays struggles. But probably will be the same in the AL East, so...

Kay is ranked between 101-103 on MLB Pipeline. He’s one of only three FV 55 guys not in their top 100.

They are 26th out of 30 teams according to Baseball America and don't have a single player in BA's top 50.
That’s nice. Still means what you said is wrong, per usual.
Lol, not semantic at all.

Please join me in the #fireshapiro bandwagon. It’s only me on there it seems. Yet another Questionable deal for the SHAT.
Someone please take the keys away from this front office. They are drunk.

Re: Stroman to Mets
As you wonder about the quality of Kay also remember that only 20% of all prospects traded at the deadline since 2013 have any major league impact anyway.
So we traded a sure thing with a year of control for a 20% shot at 103rd ranked talent. Lol.

The Happ for Drury trade sucked too.

i just don't understand... how do you not pony up to keep a guy like marcus when the money is there??? you're content extending and keeping the mediocre likes of grichuk after all. so what is it? you just don't want a guy like marcus around?
i really don't get it. the longer this goes on, the sooner people will wake up and realize that we're being led by a couple of cleveland-ass colangelo clones.

brother, i've been with you on 'fk shatkins' island since day zero. i know most people will continually give them the benefit of the doubt for somehow failing upward, but i've never believed from the jump that they have an iota of what it actually takes to win a chip. because they've never done it.

With logic like this, why do you even bother answering him? Just put him on ignore where he belongs. Plus then I wouldn’t have read that incredibly dumb post myself.

Thank you brother. Good to hear. This tire fire of a front office needs to effing go. Yesterday. Shapiro is the worst exec in baseball. He has accomplished nothing in three years and destroyed the fan base. Fire this CLOWN!

I do think his attitude and/or histrionics had a role in not wanting to commit to him long-term, and who knows, maybe it impacted his trade value as well. He does rub a lot of players the wrong way.
