If they knew they were going to scorch the earth for as many c- prospects as possible, why squander Sanchez and destroy his value by starting him all this time.

They have done well overall, but there have been a couple of serious "WTF?" moments, and this is one of them.

Is there any way this is some sort of quid pro quo with the Astros?

Very unlikely. Think it's more likely that we'd determined that i) Sanchez isn't a good starter and never will be, and ii) Sanchez doesn't want to be a reliever, so iii) keeping an unhappy rental Sanchez in the hopes of making him a decent reliever wasn't worth the trouble.

This trade makes no sense. Fisher doesn't seem like a long-term piece. We'd have been better off just staying pat if that was the only return available. Sanchez may not be an impact pitcher, but at least he was popular with the fans and a part of the old playoff teams. Might as well hold onto him. Why take the PR hit.

I willing to give Fisher some time... FO needs Fisher to come out of the gate... needs to show some potential and results this season for people to forget about what they gave up or potentially gave up especially on a trade that didnt need to be made.

They much really loved Fisher because none of the pieces they moved NEED to be moved.

Fisher sounds like someone they could have gotten for Biagini alone?

I don’t understand why Stevenson had to be thrown in.

Are we missing something with Fisher or something? Do the Jays think he can be a CF with power?

So who goes down for Fischer? Surely they aren't going to stash him down in Buffalo?

I suspect shad’s assessment was pretty spot on.

In order to ditch sanchez’s Modest arbitration figure next year we had to attach assets to him.

Essentially, houston bent over of socially awkward bean counters.

It is becoming crystal clear that Atkins is poor at negotiating trades. This guy is a grade A boner.

That's not what I'm saying. We could have ditched Sanchez's arb figure for nothing...you can just non-tender arb-eligible players.

Should have kept Sanchez another season to try and re-establish his value. Atkins sold low.

We are giving money to other teams to get rid of
Guys!

Now we are giving prospects for a modest arb increase for Sanchez?

I hate this fn team! Worst run organization in baseball!

He doesn't have any value. He isn't going to have any significant value in the future. We can almost definitely get him for next to nothing in the offseason, because Houston is highly unlikely to pay his arb figure.

Really, the Sanchez part of this bothers me the least.
