murphy is far and away the better hitter this season so i cant complain about that.

we got BABIP'd to death, the offense was garbage again, yimi was due to suck, and romano simply **** the bed. schneider sucks, still, and maybe should have left kikuchi in, but he's a few reasons removed from wearing this one, imo.

Do not get me wrong, the offense was trash. You are not going to win many games on the road when you are scoring 2 runs a game. Instead of trying to bring another Starter in here, this front office needs to acquire another Right handed bat with some pop. So, you do not have to rely on a fat and out of shape Kirk to deliver for you on many instances off the bench, when he runs like a turtle to First Base like he did tonight.

Kikuchi’s short leash isn’t Schneider call. One day y’all will blame the nerds not the puppet.

He has a short leash with anyone whos having a good game. Yet today he said in an interview thats hes going to be giving Manoah a lot of "extra" slack when it comes to pulling him early.

I cannot believe this statement...he must be joking.I,ll have to see it to believe it,like if we are trailing 4-0 early ,and he is getting hit hard but getting lucky as they are outs or something.I dont see this happening....but.....

Funny that I was the one advocating for trading Kirk last off-season when his value was the highest, coming off his all-star berth, but a couple of other posters disagreed with me. I thought his frame would have more likely resulted in being more of a DH in 2 years, and wanted to keep Moreno and his 6 years of control instead. Never seen such a slow base runner in my life. It is not fat shaming to say, that this guy needs to drop 25 pounds and get in better shape. Jansen needs to be the regular everyday catcher from here on out.

please do tell, again

what was so nerdy about bringing on one of our most likely GB hitters against a GB-heavy pitcher in the spot where a GB is the absolute worst possible outcome? when you have another guy who is literally on the team for this exact situation?

there was nothing remotely analytical about that decision. but of course you will blather on with some loser-ass ostentatious claim of knowing someone in baseball, who is probably like some concession stand supervisor in reality lol

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

The first couple times were also great.

when your team is full of professionals then Gibby would be a great get. Schnieder seems like a no-nonsense type of guy that was to reel in the fun guys. but thats just anendoctal I guess.

Isn't Romano "bad" in non-save situations?

Hopefully this team can score 2 runs or more today against a solid Seattle pitcher. Will be a tougher task with both Merrifield and Jansen on the bench. I can understand giving Jansen a day off since he catched yesterday. No reason why Merrifield should not be playing at Second over Biggio, with how poorly this team has been hitting especially with RISP.

I can't believe I have to say this again, but:

Kikuchi gets lifted early because he is an accident waiting to happen. He isn't as bad as last year (because he throws strikes now), but he still gives up an alarming amount of hard contact. In close games, being a pitcher than gives up an alarming amount of hard contact is bad, because a one-run lead can turn into a one-run deficit in approximately two pitches, and that is a thing that has happened repeatedly with him.

Meanwhile, our bullpen has been very good. Very good does not mean invincible, however. Very good means that from time to time they will actually give up runs. Last night, they gave up runs. When your offense isn't firing on all cylinders, that's just a thing that will sometimes happen.

I miss the days when this board wasn't filled to the lid with reactionary pissbabies, but alas, those days aren't returning.

hard to disagree with any of this but kirk "is a dude" being schneider's justification for his usage yesterday is...well...nothing short of embarassing.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't critique decisions, because there's plenty to critique. But it was and is cool when those critiques involve actual insight. A lot of the best posters on here are people I don't actually agree that frequently but put some effort into explaining why a thing is bad. Because you can actually engage with that. When it's someone firing off the same five-word stock response to every situation to bludgeon the paste that used to be their hobby horse, there isn't much room for engagement.

This team's offense is a disgrace right now. Another season crushing sweep in Seattle is imminent with Manoah (for some reason) getting another start tomorrow.

It's sad that when this team goes down 2-3 runs, I can safely stop watching because I know there is no chance we'll catch up.
