Even jays 3rd or 4th rumor options going off the board.

Better sign Bregman to that 250+ mill, burns to the same, and vladdy to that 500 mil deal

And even if they do that, they still need an outfielder lol

They'll probably just play combination of the young positional players in outfield at this point, there is like 1 or 2 guys left in free agency who would be clear upgrade.

Burnes to the DBacks

Jays strike out on yet another top free agent - runner ups for Ohtani, Soto, Teo, Burnes

This incompetent front office is an absolute disgrace. Their inability to get anything done is a fireable offense.

Vladdy and Bo are also half way out the door.

The way Shatkins have sabotaged this franchise is infuriating. Fans need to take a stand. Chase their asses out of this city w/ pitchforks.

F*** MARK SHAPIRO AND ROSS ATINKS.

They do. Arizona with a 2.5% flat income tax and Ontario with a marginal income tax of 11.16%, at his income level. And this doesn't even factor in the lower federal tax rates in America, of which Trump said he wanted to further decrease.

I would need a strong incentive to want to play in Canada, financially.
I acknowledge and thank the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations for allowing me to live, work and play on their unceded traditional territories.

I'm sure taxes mastered, but who is going to be on the field in two years time would also matter.
Our tax rate is similar to California, could have done that deferred salary that dodgers are doing to bypass the tax

If we were close to a WS level team I don't think the situation would matter as much. But from an outside perspective this team is bad. Terrible farm, a worse bullpen than the rockies (lmao), Bo and Vlad heading for FA, and a starting rotation that is projected to be pretty meh/mediocre. Theres 0 reason to come here.

Womp womp. It sucks for the Jays but I guess it’s great for Burnes

Actually the highest federal tax rate in Canada (33%) is lower than the highest tax rate in the US (37%).
The big difference comes in the provincial tax rates.

The marginal tax rate in Ontario is not 11.2% as you have above, but its actually 20.5% when you consider the Ontario surtaxes in the highest bracket.
So its basically 53.5% vs 39.5% combined.

Deferrals get around this, like what Dodgers are doing. Pay them 5 years later when they are retired, and living 100% of their year in their home country/state, the income gets taxed then.

Vatrano in NHL just signed a deal with significant deferrals (he plays in Anaheim). Looks like it's a growing trend. You save in taxes, lose on investment return( unless you borrow against future payments). There's actually a lot of options in tax planning for these athletes. But seems that many prefer a plain vanilla approach to avoid potential hassle.
