I'm sure taxes mastered, but who is going to be on the field in two years time would also matter.
Our tax rate is similar to California, could have done that deferred salary that dodgers are doing to bypass the tax

Actually the highest federal tax rate in Canada (33%) is lower than the highest tax rate in the US (37%).
The big difference comes in the provincial tax rates.
The marginal tax rate in Ontario is not 11.2% as you have above, but its actually 20.5% when you consider the Ontario surtaxes in the highest bracket.
So its basically 53.5% vs 39.5% combined.
