Conner Greene with another good outing 5 scoreless just 3 hits, 5 strikeouts and a 6-2 GO:FO.

Edit: Angel Perdomo pitched 4 scoreless innings in relief racking up 7 K's giving up just 1 hit.

Pentecost is 0-3 so far.
Barreto went 2-4
Lane Thomas had 2 walks
Gudino was 1-4 with a BB and 2 RBI

Great. He's kind of the forgotten man among our pitching prospects. Reading his twitter feed, he responds to pretty much all tweets.

Given that he's only struck out four times so far, I assume Dalton Pompey is getting absurdly unlucky so far in AA?

Obscenely so!
His BB rate was up and strike rate down over his Dunedin numbers.

Rowdy Tellez is another guy that's been hurt by a low BABIP (although he did strike out 2 times tonight).

Pompey is hitting a boat load of ground balls though... so it's probably a mix of him being unlucky and having trouble with the adjustment to AA...

When he first got promoted to AA, he hit a bunch of ground balls but his numbers have normalized somewhat and his GB% in July is actually lower than it was this season in A+. I'm confident that we'll see his numbers start going up.

FWIW, in Jason Parks' top 50 chat someone asked him about Pompey. He said that he wasn't in the conversation for top 50 but is in top 101. He said that they're not sold he can hit against better arms and AA will be a huge test.

His BB and K rates are very good though and would at least seem to indicate that he is not being overmatched at the plate. I do agree that there is definitely a bad luck component to his start at AA.

I just hope the team let's him figure it out instead of rushing to send him back to Dunedin.

Good sign

That was it for Osuna - one inning was all they were going to allow him to pitch. Sean Reid-Foley with a clean inning now, Max Pentacost with his first hit

Pentecost 2-2 now on the day with double and he was caught trying to steal third.
SRF with 3 strikeouts and 3 groundouts in 2 innings of work.
Nick Wells followed it up a clean inning with 2 hits given up but 1 K and no runs.
Lane Thomas playing 3B tonight also had a hit.

edit: ^ wow just beat me to it

Well, I didn't have the Wells line or the Thomas bit.

Daniel Norris was just lifted in the 1st inning (I'm asssuming on pitch count). He'd given up a HR, 2 singles and 2 walks while tossing 33 pitches. Damn.

Yeah, the Jays cap them at 35 pitches per inning, so that's why Norris would have been pulled.

Gotta think the extended layoff between starts may have messed with him.

Starting to see a bit more pop from Dean... he has a double tonight and had two homers in the past four games. He still is striking out too much, but it's good to see the pop starting to come.

If only he'd immediately switch to using his full first name he'd be my favourite Jays prospect. Though if he did go by Maxwell Pentecost he might end up having to solve mysteries or something and that doesn't leave much time for baseball.
