Davis Schneider may force the issue for the Jays - either trading him or bringing him up as either the fourth outfielder or one of the 2B. Last night, he was 3-3 with a walk and two doubles, 2 RBIs (season total 60 now).

A triple and a homer yesterday.

Leo Jimenez was supposed to lead off today for NH, was on the official lineup card, but was pulled before the game started. No explanation yet.

I would prefer we don't subtract too much from our already "average" farm system. This team hasn't done anything to warrant significant adds.
Kloff is fine as are some fringy prospects. I would rather play around in the margins with Chad Green and Ryu returning and perhaps trade some from the 40 like Espy or Biggio as there will be need to open some spaces.
I hope they don't deal anyone more substantial than Robberse

There is not a scenario I can see where they would deal off the top of the deck (Tiedemann, Barriera, Orelvis, etc.), not unless it's an all-time blockbuster. We have a lot of organization depth across the infield, Buffalo is pounding the crap out of opponents, Vancouver is a steamroller, and while we don't have the top of draft headliners that bad or recently bad teams have by virtue of drafting early in each round, I am not as down on the farm system as most of you. Pitching could be deeper, but we have several position players who are going to end up in the majors before too long, if not for the Jays, then some other team. These aren't stars, but some of them could be solid.

Re: 2022 Minor League/Prospects Discussion Thread
I agree with you Dagger. I think sentiment on the farm took a justifiable hit as there were lots of early poor starts by many of our higher rankled prospects. Since mid may the turnarounds for many including Orelvis, Jiminez, Dasan Brown and others along with strong performances from the likes of Schneider (as you have touted), Turconi, Clement and Horowitz should lead to more optimism.
Pitching is our weak spot although we have much of our Starting rotation locked in and some depth now in relief. Its not all bad is the point and by all accounts our draft was stellar so hopefully they get off to strong starts.
My point was more in that this team is not at a tipping point where we are one move away. We are somewhat flawed and I'd be happier letting some injury replacements (Ryu and Green) be our acquisitions versus any mortgaging of the farm.

Chad Green will be at BUF, might pitch tonight. I can't imagine a long runway for him. If his velocity is good, and he has no after effects of pitching, he won't be more than a week away.

Irv Carter walked 6 batters and gave up 3 runs though just 2.2 innings. With his ERA sitting at 8.59.
Wasn't this guy our 2nd rounder from last year?

Fifth round pick in 2021, but was an overslot signing for $850,000. Jays' #27 prospect on mlbpipeline (he has been higher).

Re: 2022 Minor League/Prospects Discussion Thread
Since we need some cheering up this morning, I'd highlight the work of Hagen Danner as a one-inning reliever at Buffalo. He had some rough outings in June buy been pretty effective in every other month and has brought his WHIP down to almost 1.0 overall, and under 1.0 for his appearances in the past several weeks. He might be a nice answer for 2024, a homegrown hard thrower (and already on the 40 man roster).

We do desperately need cheap and optionable relievers.

It isn't looking great. He's only 20, but hasn't had any semblance of control all year. That said, they aren't going to give up on him, and it wouldn't at all be surprising to see him emerge in a couple years as a reliever prospect.
**** your asterisk.

Hagen Danner just called up apparently based on some Twitter "insider"
Ryu placed on 15 day DL.
