So here we go with Manoah. Six up six down, 2K so far, but interestingly a total of 15 pitches to get those six outs. I could get used to that.

Re: 2021 Minor League/Prospects Discussion Thread
There's always a chance I'm wrong, but....
Manoah strikes me as a guy who goes out there thinking "I'm gonna throw the ball hard and I'm gonna throw the ball by you..." - which is enough.
Whereas,
Pearson is thinking, "What's my arm angle, where is my landing spot, how tense are my glutes, how much torque can I generate from my ulnar collateral ligament, etc...." - which is too much.

Manoah through five, still 0R 0H, 4K, not as dominant but also not yet touched for much hard contact. Only one hit batter so far, and most interestingly, only 57 pitches.

Atkins is in Trenton watching the game tonight. He may be up sooner than anybody expected.

Went six shutout innings, 75 pitches, gave up a double in the sixth and stranded the runner.

On the topic of first round picks, one of the unlikeliest recoveries is happening with Logan Warmoth, who is hitting in the vicinity of .350 with power at Buffalo - as an outfielder.

Moreno is a top 50 prospect by midseason. LoL. We thought having Vlad/Bo in top 10 was the high point in BJs prospect history. But we could legit have 3 positional prospects and 3 pitching prospects in top 50 this year.

Warmoth is still probably not a prospect of any significance, unfortunately. The HRs are eyebrow-raising, but he's striking out at an obscene rate to date, and the strikeouts have been a major problem for him throughout his career. The BABIP gods have been smiling to an extent that won't continue.
Unless he can play one hell of a CF (and he was not exactly rangy in the middle infield) it's pretty iffy that he can make it even as a utilityman, though it's possible that he'll get a chance in that role at some point this year.
**** your asterisk.

To be sure, but it's still a step forward for someone whom I thought was ready for a career change. Kevin Smith on the other hand, seems to have no clue. I think he took three called third strikes tonight - three! With men on base, at least twice. Go down swinging at least, Kevin.

Martinez vs. Moreno..... who ya'll got? Moreno would bump up our total to 8.

Manoah being 93 on any kind of list like that is laughable. And if the excuse is lack of professional ball, why doesn't it apply to Martin?

This isn't a re-rank, it's just the list after players who have exceeded rookie eligibility are removed. Manoah wasn't that well-regarded as a prospect entering the year; Fangraphs didn't even rank him.
The nature of the quasi-lost season is that prospect lists are going to be less meaningful, especially until midseason re-ranks. Manoah was drafted as a pitcher with a very limited history of even starting in college, with a pitch mix that had major relief risk, and then he basically didn't get the chance to be seen throwing in professional ball for 18 months. That made him a really difficult prospect to rank.
It's similar to SWR, where people were up in arms because he wasn't a top 100 prospect. Except...he almost definitely would have been in the top 100 for most teams, but prospect lists hadn't caught up to his performances. I'd imagine that Manoah would be higher if anyone did May re-ranks, though I doubt he'd be in the upper echelon of pitching prospects quite yet.
**** your asterisk.

Big game from King Kloff
dominated the Indians, needing just 79 pitches to get through six innings, allowing only two hits, a run, two walks and striking out four

Simeon Woods Richardson: 5IP, 4H, 0R, 4BB, 7K, picked off a runner, 86 pitches, 52 strikes.
