It'd be nice if Borucki could throw some strikes here.

Don't see that everyday.

Problem is that left the bench empty. I probably would have just PH Kirk. That would have left Davis to pinch-run at 2B if the game went to extras, and you'd still have a bat in Tellez off the bench.

Who catches though? I guess Kirk wouldn’t have been picked off, assuming he still walks?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Why didn’t Charlie keep Davis in the game for one of the outfielders? Just realizing if he did that he could have had Davis as the runner on second and Kirk in Hernandez/Grichuk/Gurriel’s spot.

Kirk could have PH for Jansen - so Kirk would have caught, just like he did after going through Tellez and Davis first. Basically Montoyo used three bench players there, when he could have just used Kirk.

Of course, I doubt Montoyo would ever pinch hit the rookie Kirk for the most experienced/established Jansen.

Well, Montoyo has used 6 bullpen arms tonight (so far). Let's hope we don't need the pen tomorrow. They'll have to add a long man to the active roster post-game.

Both teams have players arguing about obvious strikes. Geez Hernandez, that one was in the middle of the strike zone almost.

Can't sugarcoat it, that was a pathetic offensive display. Not a single run across in two extra innings, both of which you are gifted a runner at second to start.

It's going to be a long season if these guys can't learn even basic situational hitting. So frustrating to watch.

Boy, those were some terrible at-bats to end the game. Teo and Gurriel especially.

Hernandez is really frustrating to watch these days the book is out on him with low and away breaking balls he can’t pick it up

Jays literally handed the Angels the game with the lack of situational hitting

Even when they win the Jays don’t hit very well.

3 walks, 14 strikeouts. Yikes.

I'm not even disappointed with the pitching today, to be honest. Holding a team to 5 runs in regulation on a Stripling start is probably going to be a good day going forward. FO banked on the offense carrying us and they need to step up. Lot of guys looking lost at the plate with no plan whatsoever.

Good news is 155 games left lots of time to adjust and start acting like a legit offensive juggernaut!

It was a possibility, but then you’re replacing a quality bat with a bad one. I’m not sure a little extra speed is worth a huge downgrade at the plate.

This is the problem with a 3 player bench.

Davis getting picked off right away was absolutely unacceptable. If he doesn't get out there and we let Semien hit and get out, then it would've been Semien as the ghost runner at 2nd base during the next inning rather than Kirk. That would've completely changed the way our hitters would've approached their at-bats that inning. Getting Kirk home from 2nd base is a lot harder than getting Semien home lol.

Or for Panik if you didn’t want to remove one of those bats (moving Guerriel to 2nd). A good manager would have made such a move, but of course, he’s not a good manager.

Davis has made 2 inexcusable baserunning errors in both of his games played this year (the first was getting caught stealing at 3rd with 2 outs in a game they were leading by 4).

Springer’s injury is an issue not just because he’s the best player on the team by a fair margin but also because Davis appears to have no business playing in the majors.
