Tallet to have next start pushed back

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:08 am

After his start Saturday against the Angels, Blue Jays left-hander Brian Tallet reported forearm soreness. He threw 88 pitches in a 5-3 losing effort.

While both Tallet and manager Cito Gaston continued to say the injury is nothing serious, the Blue Jays will push back Tallet's next scheduled start -- originally planned for Friday at Tampa Bay -- and he will now appear on April 26 at home against Boston.

"Tallet is going to be OK," Gaston said. "He's just a little sore, so we'll give him a few more days."

They gave the gym teacher a PA day.

Good news for the Jays but bad news for Tallet. Hopefully this isn't any indication of a more serious problem in the future, but from the looks of it it is probably just due to fatigue.

Is it ok if I hope it is an indication of something mildly more serious? Not really bad, just bad enough for a trip to the 15 day DL so that we can call someone else up.

Hopefully he lands on the DL and we can call up Cecil/Mills. I just don't see Tallet as a starter...he should be in the bullpen

From the Blue Jays website preview for tonights game:

Blue Jays: Tallet's start to be pushed back
During his last start against the Angels on Saturday, Brian Tallet experienced forearm soreness. While both Tallet and Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston have said they are not concerned, they have decided to skip Tallet's next scheduled start on Friday at Tampa Bay. Ricky Romero will now start on Friday. "Tallet is going to be OK," Gaston said. "He's just a little sore, so we'll give him a few more days."

I don't wish injury on anyone, but if they're going to skip his next start anyway, I wish it would have been concerning enough for them to move him to the 15 day DL and give Mills a shot. Mills has been pitching well so far in LV and deserves a shot. Tallet should be the long man in the bullpen.
